Does anyone know the copyright laws that are around Disney and fan-websites? I'm thinking of making a fan website with information about rides and stuff but I dont want to get sued if I use the name like "DisneySpace" or something.

I think you just have to put "this site is in no way affliated with Disney. Check some that are out there and see what they put on theirs.

Doesn't Disney sue pretty much if they find out you imagined mickey ears in you head?

I can't comment on the pending lawsuit. :rotfl:

Actually, you might have more of a problem under trademark law than copyright.

"Disney" is considered a very strong trademark because its so recognizable and famous. Even with a disclaimer saying you aren't affiliated with the Disney company, you could still face a trademark dilution claim if you use "disney" in the domain name.

In all likelihood, Disney isn't going to sue you at the outset. You'll get a cease-and-desist letter first. As long as you cease using whatever they aren't happy about, they'll probably be satisfied.

Hmm alright. I don't think they would have a problem with it, it's just a website that promotes their rides and whatnot. As long as I am going to get a C&D before they sue, I'm fine with that.
