Copy the contents of your wallet

My husband and I just returned from our 2 week vacation. We stayed at CR resort for 9 of those days. We left to come home Thursday, when we arrived at the airport our flight was canceled so we stayed at the airport and rebooked the next day. At some point going through security my husband lost his wallet. We figured this out when we arrived in Chicago. Before we left home we had written the credit card and telephone numbers for all the credit cards, and his license. We did this for my wallet as well. We also went through and only took what we needed. Well, we canceled his card right away. He was able to get a new license yesterday. But without that paper with all the info we wouldn't know what he had in his wallet, or the telephone numbers to contact.
We found out today someone tried to use his credit card in Lake Buena Vista, since it was flagged it didn't go through. We did have to file a police report as well.
Now we did carry this info with us I use a folder in a tote bag I don't carry around. You could also just keep in your computer. Just a heads up.

I keep copies of our credit cards and the phone numbers to call if they're lost/stolen in our luggage, so it's there when we travel. When we get to the resort we keep them in the room safe. Also (if we drive) a spare set of car keys.

Here's another, related tip, most important for men. Get your wallet out of your pocket and into your carryon bag BEFORE you go through airport security! Dropping your wallet into an open bowl where it will possibly leave your line of sight is a risky thing.

Seed all of your carryon bags with a couple of large ziploc bags. Before you leave your car (or catch your cab to the airport), make it a ritual to empty your pockets (+ wristwatch & wireless phone, and perhaps belt) into the bag and zip it up inside your carryon. Keep only your drivers license or passport on your person (in a good deep pocket) -- everything else should be in the carryon before you arrive at the airport. Once you reach the gate, then you can take the stuff out and return it all to the usual places on your person.

Precious metal jewelry (gold, platinum, silver) should not set off the alarm, so you needn't remove it, and in fact, you shouldn't, as TSA would prefer you didn't put it at risk of being taken.
