This will be our first time staying at Copper Creek (have stayed at Wilderness Lodge years ago). I was told to try to get an 'Alternate' / 'Corner' studio, I looked up some videos and they do indeed seem nicer/bigger (are they'll actually?)

We did not book the walk in shower, so I think that apparently helps.

So my question is, being as we rented points (not DVC members), how could we go about trying to get one of these rooms?

Any tips / tricks would be greatly appreciated, going for our 10th anniversary so want to make the best of it!!

since you booked one with a tub, that’s good because all the alternate layouts are tubs. Now all the tub rooms are either on the 1st floor or any tub room on the upper floors (1 per floor) will be guaranteed to be an alternate layout (I believe there are 2 on the 1st floor).

With that in mind I would say the best option would be to actually make your request be “Upper Floor/Highest Floor”. That way if they grant that request it guarantees the alternate layout. I personally feel this is more clear to the room assigner than “Alternate Layout”. But that would be my way of requesting.

I am not a fan of the alternate studios if there are more than 2 people in the room. Reason being is because in the "living area" there is the pull out couch, which can seat two. The small table and chairs are in the "bedroom" section and there really isn't any room to bring the chairs into the living area if you want seating for more than 2. For two people, it is a nice layout.

I put in a request for it last year and did not get it, but I hope you do!

They actually told me one time it was used for Make a Wish and special needs guests. Which I knew was not 100% true, but that was what I was told. I DID get one of these rooms once, though, and really liked it of course. The chance of getting it are very very small.

We own at Boulder Ridge, and prefer our studios more, especially now that renovation is complete! The CC tub studio bathrooms are particularly tight and difficult for me to shower my adult special needs son. And with his autism I don't like ground floor rooms for safety reasons. To make matter worse, last stay I made sure to book a walk in shower because of these issues, and they switched us to a tub studio, and they would not budge from this surprise switcheroo (and we did not check in late). So I was stuck with the ground floor tub room. They said they overbooked the shower studios, which I did not think possible.

However, I LOVE WL, LOVE CC and BR, and enjoy every stay there! Have a good time!
