Coordinating ADR cancellations - what am I doing wrong?

I have tried on multiple occasions to get a wanted ADR by coordinating with someone who was cancelling. This NEVER works for me! I'm not sure what I am doing wrong. I continuously look and do the search for the exact ADR over and over right when and after the person cancelled and I never am able to get the reservation.

Can anyone tell me what I might be doing wrong? Do I need to wait a little bit longer after they cancel for it to show in the system? Is it something to do with the cookies on my computer?

Any help is greatly appreciated! I've missed out on so many great ADRs!

I know it doesn't help, but I haven't been able to pick one up this way either :confused3.

Everytime I have coordinated with someone to pick one up or give one up, it has always been immediate and we let eachother know if we got it, and it was always right away. I got a BOG lunch doing this, a month ago. They released it and I was ready and waiting and clicked find table and the time showed up right away and I was able to grab it. Not sure if someone got to it before you, but that could be the case. There have been times where the adr shows up and I click on it and as soon as I get to the last step, the error screen pops up and it wasn't available to be anymore- frustrating!!!!

Verify the time zone with your partner. Use http://nist.time.gov to synchronize. An ADR will be released immediately after they click the "are you sure" button. Keep checking for a couple minutes in case they missed the button or the system ran slow on them.

I checked the Ohana ressie that was posted today in the Oct thread. It was still there a couple minutes after they posted. No idea if it is still there. I assume you need to be quick with the more popular restaurants.

i have never had a problem getting a dropped ressie or giving one to someone... but I don't set a time, I make sure we are "live" communicating either here on dis or on facebook... that way they know exactly when I am dropping to make the pick up, and that it was successful.

Make sure you are privately messaging the person who is giving up the ressie. I would hope people don't do this, but if you are publicly talking about it, someone else could log in and snatch it up. I haven't had any trouble getting a reservation someone was giving up.

The only times I have had giving up ADRs was I had several for The Sci fi Star Wars breakfast. I had a lot of luck getting the ADRs for it and each one was better than the next.

Anyway if the other person was on the APP they could not see it. In both cases I was able to get it back for them.

i have done this a couple times now and by the time i clicked on it put in how many it has been whisked away from me, so i am presuming they were there exact time i was or the have a super fast computer

How do you start a conversation to coordinate? I'm new at this lol!
you message the person letting the adr go and co ordinate from there with each other then hope no one sneaks in and grabs the ressie

Thanks! I didn't see the Start conversation button ..I guess I just now made enough posts to see it :)

I just scored a BOG lunch reservation for my close friends! Super excited! I have been stalking it for well over a week now. They're complete newbies so I am helping them with their trip.

However...I didn't know their MDE login so I ended up putting it under mine. It's a reservation for 4 people. Drop and grab makes me nervous...

Would it be OK if I just added 3 of their names to the reservation, leaving my name and my MDE account managing it? Say if I added the Dad, daughter, and son to the reservation, they should be able to get in and eat just fine with the Dad's magic band, right? I could give them my magic band to take to the park if it makes it easier (I am not going on this trip).

Sure, you can do that, but you're on the hook for the $40 if they no-show.

Good to know :)

I'm thinking about it but I'm pretty confident they won't stiff me. Still, very good to consider the possibility. I am going to get their MDE login (since I am doing their FP+ for them too). Since the time that I got isn't ideal (1.25pm), I will continue checking and seeing if an earlier time opens up at which point I can book with their MDE instead of mine.

I have coordinated with many people to snag their ARDs or for them to snag mine and they have all seemed to work, except when a friend of mine was trying to get an ADR using the app. I would cancel, then she would say she couldn't get it and I would have to quickly get it back. We did lose one reservation that way though.

I have my own theory on this and while it may be ridiculous, I still follow it:
1) Use the website, not the app.
2) Coordinate with the other person during random times. Like 2:20, or 7:13.
3) Don't do it at 6:00am when people first wake up, 9:00am when the West Coast is waking up, 12:00 or 3:00pm when people take a lunch and have a chance to check, 5:00-6:30pm when people are getting home and able to check, etc.

Good luck!

Use the website but SMS text with the person you're trying to grab it from.
Make sure the page for the restaurant is open on your browser to the right, place, and time and you don't at all have a conflicting dining spot.
And make certain that you're signed in.
If you're going during free dining, do it super late at night for the best chance.
Good luck!

I'm new to this!! Hoping that coordinating cancelations work for me because every restaurant I want says they ar

A nice DISer tried to coordinate with me yesterday for a dropped reservation, but it wasn't there. :( She said she checked immediately after dropping and didn't see it, either. Someone must have snatched it up at exactly the right moment. I was sad that it didn't work out---but she made someone's day with that BOG dinner!

Something similar happened to me when trying to pick up a Jedi Mickey dinner...the ADR didn't show up right away, and I thought someone had snatched it up. But then the person who released it kept refreshing and it showed up like 20 minutes later. So I think while most of the time they go back into the pool, sometimes they don't.
