So, we carry a igloo cooler backpack to Disney with drinks (water/Gatorade) and snacks. We eat lunch/supper in the parks. Are we "allowed" to bring the cooler to Universal?

Thanks for your help!

small coolers can be brought in but no glass containors will be allowed in the parks.

Thanks Metro! Another ?, our backpack is bigger than the dimensions you mentioned. Is that going to be a problem?

Also, we will take Gatorade or juice packs. Will that be a problem?

You read the list posted, your backpack and choice of beverage COULD be a problem. I say COULD because it just may depend on who checks your bag when you get into the parks. Safe bet is bottled water and the small single serve packets of powdered Gatorade.

One other thing to keep in mind, when compared to WDW, Universal is not as backpack friendly when it comes time to ride. Some will require you to stow your items in a locker:

Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit
Revenge of the Mummy
MEN IN BLACK Alien Attack
The Incredible Hulk Coaster
Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey
Dragon Challenge

Having a backpack larger than the dimensions listed could very well be a problem. They will check your bags at the rotunda in the parking structure if you are driving and you might be turned back. Try to make do with a smaller bag or bring two smaller bags.

As long as your drinks are not open and not in glass containers, you shouldn't have any problems.

I agree about going with smaller bags - also, a large backpack might not fit in the lockers, which will make it difficult to go on many of the rides.

large back packs will easily fit into the family lockers at the front of the park.

I was referring to the free ones you use when you go on the rides, as I'm too cheap to pay for one of the regular lockers! ;)

Thanks everyone! This is the info I was looking for. Does anyone have dimensions for the free lockers?

There is a nice tutorial over at 0rlando Informer with photos, dimensions etc. But, the ride lockers are W 10″ H 10″ D 16″. The daily use lockers at both parks are available in two sizes: W 17″ H 16″ D 36″ and W 17″ H 23″ D 36″
