cool find in our house today!

Was putting things away in a closet today and found a measuring stick that is attached to the wall. Looks like almost all the kids that have lived in this house have used this thing, it has so many names on it! Even grown ups got in there!


How cool is that? Its like a growing history of the families that have lived in our house

That's so cool. Do you mean it was used to measure them? We do this on the downstairs bathroom door. We do it in June and December. We just did it the other day and my son got to do it for the first time.

yep, its tacked onto the wall, a great big stick with measurements on it. Next to the measurements it has things like " Logan age 5 years November" and "Connor age 8, July"

Heck it even has a neighbour or two on there

we just moved in this May so were still finding things here are and there. The house is almost 40 years old so there is a lot of quirky stuff lurking about

The house that my grandparents lived in when I was young had a simialr thing. At their house it was the bathroom door. On it are the measurements of my dad and his sisters as well as a few other family members. A few years ago, shortly before the house was to be torn down we asked to have it (if it was still there), and were given it . It currently resides in our closet (our doors are not that narrow). While my brother and I are not on the chart DH and I have decided to add our girls to it to carry on the tradition.

yep dates included. Some names no one knows. I will have to ask the lady next door she has lived here since this house was built. Maybe she will remember


I looked closer and its written on the actual frame with the stick next to it so it will take removing the frame to get rid of it ( or paint but I would never do that )

When getting the main floor ready for the painter this past week I had to take down DSs growth chart from the back of the den door. I have added on his height intermittently as he's grown up. DS had the den for his bedroom over 10yrs ago before we added on our 2nd floor. Also found coat hooks under a poster that he used when he was younger.
This happened the same week he graduated from Middle School!
