We use olive oil alot but still need the other kind. What do you prefer? There are so many kinds - canola, vegetable, ect ect.

Are there benefits to one over the other? Do you think one is better, and why? I've been cooking many years LOL and always wondered what others prefer! :)

My understanding is that canola oil is one of the "healthy" oils. It's very neutral in flavor so it's perfect for baking, and handles high heat well for frying. When I don't use olive oil, I use canola oil.

ITA. EVOO first choice, canola oil is my second choice.

It really depends on what I'm using it for. For Baking I like canola because of it's neutral flavor and it's not expensive.

For frying I like peanut oil. I like the flavor it brings and you can use it over and over because it stands up very well to the heat.

My mom uses grapeseed oil for frying at high heat. I use olive oil for salads, saute-ing and roasting but canola oil for frying.

Love using canola oil (either Crisco or Wesson, whichever's cheaper at the time).

Are we talking for health or flavor? We use a dash (VERY sparingly) of Sesame oil when making stir fry. Imparts a wonderfully "nutty" flavor.

For frying I use only olive oil or peanut oil. I think canola oil has a fishy smell when used for frying.
