I have some frozen coctail shrimp-can I cook them and put them in fettuccinI? I want to make supper now and am not getting a response on the cooking thread.

If they are already pink, they are already cooked -- don't cook them again or they will have the consistency of rubber. If you need to thaw them, put them in a sealed plastic bag and run room-temp water over the bag until they defrost; you don't want to use a microwave to thaw shrimp. (Again, the rubber thing.)

If they are not pink and thus raw, thaw them as noted above and add them to your sauce just about 4 minutes before the end of cooking time for the sauce.

I've done it.. just don't heat them long if they are precooked, or they will get yucky.
Thaw them.... then heat them gently, probably in your sauce. :)
I love shrimp!

One of my fave easy meals is adding cooked shrimp to pasta.

Dice up some peppers, onion, and tomato. Very lightly saute the peppers and onions along with some chopped garlic (I use the stuff from a jar that's already minced into tiny pieces), then add the shrimp in just long enough to warm them up but not cook them again (again with the rubber thing!) As you're doing this, cook the pasta as usual. Drain the water and put the pasta back in the pot. Add the shrimp/peppers/onions/garlic, as well as the tomatoes. Toss it all with some extra virgin olive oil and serve! Have some fresh grated parmagiana cheese and maybe some freshly ground black pepper handy.

Yum.
