I can see how the kitchen would be handy and economical IF you have a car to take you to a grocery store. What if you fly to Orlando? How would you get groceries then???
Ann

All the DVC resorts sell some basics (at a premium cost). You can also usually make a grocery stop with any of the car services or you can get taxis to the local grocery stores. Another option some people use is to either ship things down or use a service like Netgrocer. You can also fly and rent a car. That's what I do.

I believe that the resorts all have some groceries in their store & they also will let you order in advance and stock your refrig before you even arrive. The grocery lists & prices are on the member web site.:p

Thanks for the quick replys! It sounds like it would be pretty easy to get a stocked refrigerator! Am I right that even the studios have a complete kitchen?

No. The studios have a small/medium refrigerator, microwave, coffeemaker and toaster. The "freezer" is only a shelf like set-up in the refrigerator and does not keep things frozen very well. Start up supplies of plastic knives/forks/spoons and paper plates are provided. There are real glasses and coffee mugs.

The larger units have true kitchens, including dishwashers, and a full complement of dishes, glasses, blenders, etc., etc. They have a full size refrigerator/freezer and also a washer/dryer in the unit.

I'm a new member (not gone on a DVC trip yet, but have been to WDW tons of other times) but from what I saw on the tour the studios only have a kitchenette. I think it's just a smaller fridge, a coffee maker, microwave & toaster. Maybe someone who's been would know more.

I think I have read here that some of the car services from the airport (possibly Tiffany Town Car?) will arrange a half hour grocery stop on the way to your resort. I have never done it, we always rent a car, but I'm pretty sure I've seen it here.

All of the towncar services offer a complimentary 30 minute grocery stop. (You have to request it in advance to make sure that they build this extra time in.)

It doesn't sound like a lot of time, but you'd be amazed at how much you can accomplish when the clock is ticking.

I wish I could figure out how to get out of a grocery store in that amount of time at home.:p :p (It must be knowing that the next stop is WDW that motivates me.)
