Going back to WDW in Sept (Yippee, less than 5 weeks!). We've had the DDP 6 times but this will be the first time have the QSDP.

So, here's my question.. We usually eat at Raglan Road once during our trip :lovestrucbut this time we will be skipping it. ;) I had forgotten about Cookes of Dublin until just a few minutes ago. We ate there only once before and it was when we didn't have the DDP. I remember we shared our Fish and Chips and it was pretty good. Since we paid OOP, we were concerned about cost. This time we can order whatever we want, so what should we order (your favs) and what would you never have again. Oh, and we can have dessert too! :cloud9:

All the 'n Chips meals sound good as do the Dublin Style Pies. Are these similar to a pasty?

If you have pictures, feel free to post them. I'm a visual person and love to see photos.:goodvibes

Ohh, I just noticed they have mini doughnuts. :cool1:Are they similar to the ones served at the waterparks? We always get those when we go. I think it's the only food we pay OOP for when on DDP.

Okay, I just googled Cookes and found some pictures that lead to a few posts that answered a few questions. But I still want to hear from my fellow disboarders who have eaten here.

TIA

Chicken and Mushroom pie. St. George's Scallops and Onion rings all yum. We just ate there a week ago Sunday!:goodvibes

Thanks for the replies.

So far I'm thinking Fish 'n Chips, Scallops, and one of the meat pies. There's 3 of us so we could all share. ;) Anymore?

Cookes and DTD are our traditional first night plans. I love the battered sausages and though they give you a mustardy dip I get a side of cheese and bacon dip. The fries are also very good, actually I think they are the best fries on property.

We thought the mini donuts were horrible! We didn't even finish them. All they seemed to be were fried batter from the meat. We are used to good mini donuts having grown up in MN where they have them at the state fair. We felt that these were a poor imitation of mini donuts. The fries have the same batter as our fish and shrimp did, so it may just have been that we had eaten too much of that batter by dessert time. The shrimp and fish were very good and the fries so-so. I am not a french fry lover either which probably colors my opinion

Good to know about the donuts. Thanks. We really like the ones they make at the waterparks. Done the original way-shaken with granulated sugar, no dips on the side.

Glad to hear about the fish and shrimp. I LOVE fried shrimp. And like most kids, the only shrimp DD10 will eat is fried. (just like we I was a kid.)

Has anyone had the "Doh-Bars" Fried Candy Bars and/or the Skinny Chips?

I had the Doh-Bar last December. I was so excited about it because I love fried foods and I love chocolate, but that day I discovered I don't love fried chocolate. The biggest issue was it took so long for it to cool down and I didn't have the patience for it. But definitely try it for yourself . . . you never know.

mmmmmmmmm......meat pies. A must stop for me. Generally DH gets fish and chips and the DD's opt for Earl of Sandwich. This trip we are going without DH so I'll have my order to go (soaked in vinegar of course!)

109 days until Just the Girls Christmas Magic me princess:DD20princess: DD19princess:

We might just have to try the "Doh Bar" just so we can say we did it, just once. I local county fair always has some wierd new fried thing every year but I never want to spend the $$ to try them. Plus some of them just sound too gross. Fried avocado? And this year it was fried butter on a stick! :scared1: Never did see anyone with one of these so I have no idea what it even looked like. I kept thinking about the Halloween Kelly Ripa did when she as Paula Deen and she ate everything with butter-including butter on a stick (not fried.) It was pretty funny!

I never thought about vinegar on a meat pie. I know it's used on fish 'n chips. Marblies, which is your favorite pie? TIA

:rotfl2: The vinegar is for my chips! I go for the beef and lamb. (sometimes I add a little Worchestershire sauce). Seems to me that icecream is a dessert option too. Hmmm. I know that I have never had a fried candy bar there.

Love this thread, thought I'd share the menu I found on allears.net. We have only eaten at the McDonalds in DTD which apparently is now closed, and TRex. We as well have the QSDP this year for the first time and are trying to plan out where we will be eating. We were going to do Earl of Sand. but the night we are going to DTD is the first night we arrive. We will want a meal. DH is excited for Cooks of Dublin as we ate at Raglan Road last year and it was one of our FAVS!

Definitely getting the Chicken mushroom pie, and I've seen pics that they come with their fries. I heard that they are the same as Ragland Road and those were SOOOOOOOOOO GOOOD!!!!!! (So was the fried fish the kids had)

Don't forget about Wolfgang Puck's Express. It's on the QSDP and it's very good! There are 2 locations in DTD. One near DQ and one on the other side.

the onion rings!!! they make a great snack for just walking around downtown disney! they are big enough to share too!

Has anyone tried the scallops? I love scallops, but wonder if they are the little ones, which can sometimes be rubbery, or the big ones.

I would like to know about the scallops as well. I love big ones!

Thanks for the info about the onion rings. Love those too!

MY DS loved the food altho if your like me and dont care for alot of fried food, the only option will be salad. I actually got the mini cocktail sausages which were great the first couple then the fried taste set in, the french fries were the bomb tho. DS had the ceasar salad but the dressing is quite different than normal and my DH had the chicken fingers which he said was good but they looked identical to my DD fried shrimp..lol Everything is heavily battered..Again if you want fried food this is the place to go, Id prefer EOS or WGPE from now on tho..

:dance3:Can anyone confirm that the fries used at Cookes for Dublin are the same as Ragland Road? They were THE BEST fries. AMAZING. I think they are the same, but don't want to get excited just yet.

Also, I wonder if you have the option of mashed potatoes? Doesn't seem so. DH LOVED their mashed at Ragland Road.

Cooke's is probably our favorite restaurant in all of Disney! My favorite is the fried shrimp (big and fresh) and my husband usually gets the beef and lamb pie.

I've never had a bad meal here.
