My extended family of 9 (including grandkiddos) enjoy going to a HH condo that is about a 15-minute walk to the beach. I'm much more of a Disney fan than they are, and I love Disney luxury and hospitality.

How do I convince them to try the Disney resort vs the normal condo? I plan on mentioning the bus service to the beach house where we can clean up, that's also just a 5 minute drive away.

Any other ammunition?

Are you offering to book them using your points, or would it be a cash reservation? We just got back from HHI, and we didn't stay at DVC. We were split amongst a townhouse at Harbour Town, and a golf course home in Sea Pines. I love the DVC pool (great for grandkids) and the kids' activities. I have to say, I didn't think I'd like Sea Pines, but wound up liking it. The whole island was very crowded, so there were non-stop cyclists everywhere. Sea Pines also has a beach trolley (not sure where your family usually stays, but their resort might too).

IMHO the island is very overbuilt in terms of supply/demand. So it made for a very reasonably priced beach vacation. If we weren't at Sea Pines, I would have looked to rent at Villamere, which is oceanside.

We just got back from HH. Extended family of 8 with gg in her 80's and grandsons at 7 and 4. If you have a car getting to the beach is less than 15 minutes. The shuttle is also an option, about 5 minutes to the beach. The "beach house" has a nice pool, showers to take away the salt water, water play area, towels, food and a play room. The resort has a full complement of things for the little ones to do. My grandsons loved the "campfire" and s'mores. The cast members were high energy and the kids loved the sing alongs and skits. You have a ring side seat for the Tuesday fireworks (don't know which months they do the fireworks). The pool at the resort was great, the water slide was the 7 year olds favorite. We used the grills a couple of nights for dinner. The rooms are nice and clean. You can walk to a bunch of restaurants which have discounts for the Disney guests. The resort has bicycles available (but they are more expensive than others on the island). You can fish from the dock when the tide comes in. Movie night.

If it helps- my uncle has a beautiful villa on HHI that we were just at. We had an awesome five minute walk across a boardwalk to get to the beach. When the kids were tired, we could take a golf cart on the boardwalk. The resort had an indoor pool, two outdoor pools, tennis courts, bar on the beach, etc. It's in the northern part of HHI which we found less crowded but still easily accessible. Even more amazing- we are able to stay there at no cost whenever we would like.

With that said- we visited Disney HHI and fell in love. Though we can stay at my Uncles villa at no cost we are planning on using some of our points to stay at disney's HHI in the spring. The atmosphere is so kid friendly. I love the hammocks and games around the resort. The resort pool looked great. Tons of activities for the kids. Short walk across the bridge to shelter cove harbor where there are little stores and restaurants. Heated pool. Hot tub. It's just great there.

I totally agree! We just returned Saturday from HHI - Villamare, ocean view. It's a gorgeous condo complex in a perfect location. Both island wise and for Disney access. Directly next door to the the Beach House for easy Mickey Bar and Dole Whip access and a quick bike ride to the resort proper to fill the Disney fix. We rode over three times.

Funny thing is I had no idea it was so close to the Disney properties when we rented. Most unexpected Pixie Dust ever.
