Either way, I feel stuck

So, we are going in December and I have CBR booked. We stayed at POFQ last year a loved it. We were there 12 days and the beds got a little small after awhile and the buses were sometimes poor but all in all we really enjoyed it and that it was small.

So, we are going back and I booked CBR preferred. DH wants to stay at the Poly. It's $1500 more and we have time to come up w/ the money but it's still $1500 more for a room. I would like the queen bed and the monorail but we ate there twice and the lobby was so busy and packed. I really want a relaxing place.

Also, since we are going in December the pool won't really matter so I hate paying for the volcano pool if it's going to be to cold to go in. I'm really torn, I would love the monorail and to go deluxe but CBR also looks good and cheaper. The money really isn't that important but at the end of the day it's just a room.

Oh heck I don't know. Please tell me what you would do. I'm just happy DH is letting us go back.

I haven't been to the Poly but we love CBR! Because the rooms are spread out apart from the food court and main pool, it's really quiet near the rooms. There's a quiet pool in every village at CBR and a beach at every village too with hammocks and beach chairs. I think you'll love it!:thumbsup2

The Great Ceremonial House at the Poly might be busy, but there are plenty of quiet spots in the resort. Besides, you can't beat the convenience of the monorail or the boats to get around to the MK resorts.

The rooms are noticeably larger in the Poly compared to the moderates, even though CBR has the largest rooms of the mods. Night time is my favorite time at the Poly - you can watch Wishes and the EWP from a hammock on the beach.

As for the weather, there is no way of predicting how warm/cold it will be in December. We are Florida residents and have gone to WDW every December for the past 20 years or more. We have been there during shorts weather and parka weather. I believe the coldest it ever got was 22 degrees. There have been times when you were able to go swimming. I guess what I'm trying to say is that you can't plan your resort choice around the weather.

If you can afford it and you get a good rate, I would go for the Poly. However, we also like CBR so you should just choose the resort you feel the most comfortable spending the money on.

Have a great trip!:)

Keep in mind this is DH's vacation too and he should be able to enjoy it as well. Ask yourself, how unhappy is he going to be if he is not staying at the resort of his choice? Will this spill over and make you and anyone else unhappy? Some people do split stays. Enjoy, your going to WDW!!!!!

We've been to WDW twice. We stayed at CBR Christmas of 2004, and the Poly February of 2008. If I had to choose, I'd pick CBR hands down! I'm not sure why all the hype for the Poly. Yes the rooms were huge. But CBR's rooms were pretty big. Poly's landscaping is beautiful, but so is CBR's. The monorail was convenient, but on more than one occasion, we waited for the next one to come because it was always very crowded. The longest wait for a CBR bus was 10 minutes, and we always had a seat (unless my chilverous DH gave his up for someone older). The Poly was dark and dreary inside. CBR is bright and vibrant. And the biggest complaint I had about the Poly was that because it has interior hallways, the noise level was so loud after parks closed and everyone was heading back to their rooms all excited from fireworks. Personally, I don't think that a room at the Poly is worth an extra $1500. I'm sure that people will disagree with me. But that's the great thing about Disney. There are many different options to keep us all happy and returning! Whatever you choose, you'll have a wonderful time! I know we did.

I would say if the you can do the POly I would. The transportation oprions alone would make me fo it.

$1500 is alot of money, but if it is doable without breaking the bank, I say go for it :goodvibes. The Poly is a GREAT resort, IMO. We are booked for our third stay at the Wilderness Lodge in December, but I'm contemplating switching to the Poly because our first stay there in September was AWESOME  . The reason we would stay with the WL is the Christmas decorations can't be beat...we think the WL beats out all the resorts at Christmas time :santa:. But the Poly is our #1 choice resort with the WL running a close second ;).

Once we are at WDW it won't really matter to either of us where we are staying because we are at Disney. That's part of the problem. I'm trying to justify the extra $1500. Just because you have it doesn't mean you should spend it. That's how I feel sometimes.

I did express to DH that we may not be able to take advantage of all the Poly has to offer since we are going in the winter and he mentioned something about going back next summer and staying there. All I heard were the words "next summer going back" and I was in heaven.

DH really doesn't like Disney, I think he's just trying to be tough. He keep suggesting it, not me. I just say OK, we are booked before the he even finishes his sentence.

arent some of the other deluxes a little lesser costwise?
I have not stayed at the poly I have eaten there. we enjoy Konas, but have no desire to stay there. There are other better resorts....least for us.

For you and hubby try the Boardwalk. I didn;t think I would enjoy that as mucha s I did. It was great having the entertainers and stuff at night, plust you got the dance hall and the piano bar right there

I agree with another poster. When in doubt I take the middle road and see if I can get a less expensive deluxe room.
The Poly is a wonderful location. However, the WL is great for location also. Just not as good as the Poly location.
There is a difference between the moderates and deluxes. And once you have stayed, you will see. Don't get me wrong -- I will stay in a moderate, value or deluxe and be fine. But the deluxes win. It is a you get what you pay for situation.
I tend to book a less expensive room depending on how much we plan to be in a room.
As example, we have a value room booked for one night in June. But we will be there for general Disney and Star Wars Weekend.
When I want to enjoy the resort and have a great view, I book on the monrail, or similar location.

DITTO!! Never stayed at Poly, but after staying at CBR and CR, I had the same feeling... Room size: totally agree w/ you... Landscaping: CBR hands down.... Cement vs. vibrant colors: CBR wins again.
We also have learned to take time out to 'hotel hop' -- to get an idea where we'd like to stay/try next trip.

Could you do a split stay?

I completely understand where you're coming from....we usually stay in the values, not because we can't afford a moderate, but because we're fine there and it's not worth the extra money for us most of the time.

We thought about the WL but I have one question. We are really big food court people. We like to do that in the morning for breakfast and when we are lounging at the pool. I've never stayed at the WL only visited but if I remember correctly their food court was really tiny and didn't offer much. Can someone elaborate on this? I might consider switching to the WL.
