Convince me which toilet paper is best for my RV

I'm a total novice when it comes to RV toilet paper. I've read that you should only use T.P. made specifically for use in RV's, but after an evening of chili from Trail's End, I find RV specific TP is not substantial enough.

Isn't an RV holding tank the same as a septic tank? Why wouldn't TP safe for use in a septic tank work?

Convince me, please.

We use regular toilet paper in our MH and have been for years. We have never had a problem. At one time we were traveling with 3 gals and 2 guys.
My husband also says it's the amount of tp that you use. We told our girls use what they need, but don't go overboard.

Although if they did it overboard, you wouldn't have to worry about the TP clogging up the sewer line. :thumbsup2

Maybe TP conservation is the REAL reason they keep telling us to stay out of the damn lakes!

tiptoeing in to offer up our experience...... TheBigGuy is compulsive about the black tank for some reason - he had this thing called a "macerator" put in. Now, we use whatever toilet paper we please, with no worries about a build-up in the black tank.

Now, back to your regularly scheduled chat..... :cutie:

HOLY CRAP!! (pun intended) An "insinkerator" for a holding tank? That's pretty extreme! :rotfl2:

Hey Deb - did you know when you started this thread that you were being facetious in more ways than one???

Hanging it out the window while the hubby is driving along is a vividly playing in my mind....screeching cars, swerving trucks, screaming children...

It all works for me, and no TP! I am all for conservation of the environment you know!;)

And they get to air-dry, so no chapping, unless the weather is really humid.

Try not to do this when it is raining, or has recently stopped. Too much mud splattered by the other cars.

I find it amusing there are some who took me seriously. Me?? Serious??? (Insert evil laugh)

Thanks Deb this and a few other threads had me laughing all weekend, at least when I could get on a computer.
I was reading this to my StepSon and he thought his Father and I were crazy, told him u just had to be there.
When we brought our 1st MH and I realized how much the TP was, I told our friends that camped with us the 1st time that we could afford the MH but not the TP, that they could only use 1 sheet at a time. They did not know I was kidding and tried to use the comfort station, but when they used the MH they used one sheet at a time. I told them it was a joke months latter. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

For the last 37 years we have used what we use in the house nothing special. You black water tank is simply a holding tank not a septic system and the whole key is to use LOTS OF WATER and then fill it up at least 3/4 before dumping and I usually dump about ever 4 or 5 days and that way you don't even need any chemicals. I do add a a capfull of the cheapest liquid Dish washing liquid and a capfull of calgon in the black tank. I use the cap from the calgon to measure it. That seems to help keep things from fouling the black tank sensors a little better, but they still aren't very good and to double check I just use a flashlight down the throne since my throne empties directly into my black tank.

I normally keep my grey tank open and close it a couple of days before I plan to dump my black tank so I can rinse out the STINKY SLINKY.
