Convince me which toilet paper is best for my RV

I'm a total novice when it comes to RV toilet paper. I've read that you should only use T.P. made specifically for use in RV's, but after an evening of chili from Trail's End, I find RV specific TP is not substantial enough.

Isn't an RV holding tank the same as a septic tank? Why wouldn't TP safe for use in a septic tank work?

Convince me, please.

A septic works on bacteria over a longer time, you need something that breaks down quicker..

TP is overrated and a waste of money. The Fort provides ample toilet paper in the form of leaves. Stay away from those vines with three leaves. Man, that's a mistake I don't want to make again. I used to pry open the dispenser in the comfort station and take one of Disney's giant rolls, but found they didn't fit real well on my dispenser in the RV toilet.

After struggling for several years with non-RV TP clogging up the system, I finallly came up with a foolproof modification. I simply removed my black holding tank. Now when I step on the pedal, away she goes! This works really well at the Fort...the coquina acts like a charcoal filter.

Of course, this doesn't work too well on the Premium sites.

I would think if you only use one square at a time. You should be fine.

We use regular toilet paper in our rv, and have for years, with no problems. There are 4 of us camping. Of course, my honey is obsessive about maintaining the system so maybe that's why we've not had problems???

My husband says, "it's not the toilet paper, but the amount of toilet paper." Hmmmm, maybe that one square thing has merit.

We are of the regular TP variety. So called "RV" TP is just cheap TP at double the price.

We use 1 ply Scott and have never had a problem.....

no matter how much chili or Cowboy Beans we have.

1) We prefer the Sears catalog, it that helps.

When we were there this summer we would use the bathrooms and toilet paper over at the Wilderness lodge and other resorts. I know they dont allow pool hopping, but I did not see anywhere forbidding us from crapper hopping.

A simple test my DW found online was to put a piece in a glass of water and stir it. The RV paper touted did NOT break down quickly at all. We found soft and gentle (which it's not really) does break down very quickly, in seconds actually. It became a soupy texture instead of sheets. (Not recommended for ingestion) ; Try it with your favorite brands.

I usually just wait for my neighbors to go to the parks, then I use their bathroom. I have found that some people simply do NOT know how to buy quality TP, though. Then I steal a roll from one of the good shoppers and give it to the other folks.

I'm helpful that way.

For the test just take two sheets of the TP in a glass 3/4 filled with water. Cover it with your hand and give it a good shake. If it brakes up you're good. We use Scotts and are in our RV about five months a year. We have never had a problem and never used RV/TP.

all of your suggestions were pure genius,....but why not just dispose the used tp in the trash and empty the trash every morning,...let the ft. peeps come and dispose of the stinky trash

When my DH was in Afghanistan, he stated that they don't use any paper, and do their duty #2, standing up, and sad but true, they also use their hand to "clean up". For #1, they squat down. So, you could try that method!!
