Just booked POR this morning for $94 per night. This trip will just be my husband and myself for some rest and relaxation. We're not planning to do any parks...just lay by the pool and do the Disney nightlife.

This will be our 4th stay at POR and we've always stayed in the bayou. Now, there's a little part of me that would like to try the mansions, but I love the solitude of the bayou.

So...let's hear it from you mansion lovers!!! Which mansion for the most peace and quiet? Which mansion for relative closeness to Ole' Man Island and the food court?

Thanks!!

I absolutely love the mansions. We stayed in Arcadian House or Magnolia Terrace (can't remember). The rooms are really pretty with dark wood furniture and pretty fabrics. Very antiquey......I think they are just as nice as the deluxes. We have stayed in the Bayou too but prefer the Mansions.....have fun.

I satyed in Magnolia Terrace. It was very peaceful. THe rooms were elegant. It will be romantic for hte two of you. MT was also close to the bridge to Ol' Man Isle and close to the East Bus Stop.

You'll love it.

No question about it! Do it! As for one of the buildings right over the bridge. Ask for a courtyard view. When you walk out of your room the flowers smell awesome! If you get one of these rooms, you will be right by the quiet pool and a hop over the bridge to the food court and big pool. Have a great time!
:smooth:

We stayed in the Mansions a couple of years ago, and thought it was very peaceful. I would recommend Magnolia Terrace, as it is the closest to the path that leads to Ole Man Isle & then over to the Main building. There is also a quiet pool between it and the next Mansion. I think the Mansions woudl be very romantic - you could go out in the evening and take a nice romantic walk along the river!

OK Girls...you're doing a really good job of convincing me to try the Mansions. I honestly think I'll give it a try!! I'm leaning towards Magnolia Terrace. Keep those hints and tips coming!

Another big vote for the mansions!!! We did our honeymoon in a King room and loved the decor, very elegant and romantic, perfect for just the two of you!!! I foget the name of our mansion but it was just a short walk over the bridge to the busses and main area.

I've stayed in Parterre Place 2 times & had great rooms.(#9712 & 9715) . This mansion is usually easier to get your requests for as it's less requested than Magnolia Terrace and I think it's as good or better location. If you go with Parterre Place, request the quiet pool side and you'll be just a few steps from the bridge going over to food court/main bus stop. Also, this side is only 2 stories while alot of the other mansions are 3 stories-which means alot after a day of walking!

We had styed in AB twice and loved it, but just for a change of scenery, stayed on the Mnasion side last October. It seemed much classier, both in room decor and exterior. We stayed in Oak Manor which was perfectly placed near a quiet pool, the bridge to the main building, and the bridge to Ol' man Island. Very nice!

Hi TwinMom7,

We have never stayed at POR but have visited it on each trip and we like the way the mansion side looks compared to the bayou. We would request the mansion side if we were to stay at POR in the future.

Just something to keep in mind though is that you can request the mansion but that it is just a request and you could end up in the bayou section anyway.

You proboly know this already but I just would hate to see you get all excited about staying in the mansion area and then be disapointed it you were put in the bayou section.

Well I wish you luck on your request and hope that it is granted. have a great trip.

I have a question. Aren't all the standard rooms in the Aligator Bayou section the ones with trundle beds? The trundle bed rooms are now $15 more a night.

So if you book a standard room at the standard rate, doesn't that mean you will get the Mansions? I think they just changed that this year.

Hi Patty! We tried the mansions on our 3rd of 5 trips to Dixie Landings. It was fun once but then it was back to Alligator Bayou for us.

The Mansions at PO-Riverside (particularly Magnolia Terrace courtyard view/gazebo side) and PO-French Quarter are the most elegant, beautiful rooms available at WDW at your (and mine) price. It is like staying a a beautiful painting. I know ther are more convienient resorts, but the ambience is something special. We have stayed at both and are going back to PO-French Quarter (because it is opening up again) in June. You can't go wrong for the price. I just hope they bring Bob back.

I love the mansions also. Dixie is my favorite moderate. I've stayed in both sides equally and perfer the mansions because they are "classy" and quiet. I love the pools better than AB. I only stay in AB when we need the extra bed. They only charge you for the trundle bed if you request it. We never request it, we just ask for AB and if someone wants to use the extra bed they do. I've never had to pay for it. I imagine if you had 5 in a room you would be automatically charged for it. I have ALWAYS gotten whatever section of Dixie I have requested. And I've never faxed my request in, I just tell CRO what I would prefer when I make my ressie. I think the mansions are romantic and perfect for the special get away!

Question about Magnolia Terrace: I've asked for a king bed on the 2nd floor of this building. Does it have 2 or 3 floors? I assumed they were all 2. How is the noise level? If your on 2 do you hear the family above you on 3? We've stayed in resorts (non-disney) where it sounded like we had a family of gorillas above us. Should I switch to Parterre Place? We're only 2 people and I'm looking for a romantic area.

Thanks for all your help!
