Please help me understand why owning at more than 1 resort is to my benefit. We currently own at BCV and have yet to use our membership but already have addonitis. We will be staying at AKV for a short stay at the end of March and plan on staying at BCV in May 11'. We are open to staying at different resorts but DW **LOVES** BCV. Any advise is welcome. Thanks in advance.

The only advantage to owning at other resorts is to take advantage of the 11 month window.

But, you must own enough points to complete a stay. This can be accomplished with banking and borrowing so some buy a smaller contract for certain times of the year. So, if you really wanted VWL for an EOY Dec trip, you might by 50 points, and with banking/borrowing, would have 100 to use there at the 11 month window.

But if your wife LOVES BCV and has no real desire to stay elsewhere during really busy times, I don't think its necessary.

We own at BLT because MK is our favorite. We know we will stay there for at least part of every trip. If we want to trade to either BCV (which we are doing this summer) or VWL, we will take our chances at 7 months. But if it doesn't work out, I am okay with it.

Now, DH may decide after staying at BCV, that he wants both, just to guarantee some nights there every summer. If that is the case, then we will add on there instead of BLT next fall.

I suggest trying the membership that you have at BCV and see how it works for you. BCV is a small resort and one that is hard to get into at time. You already have the 11 month advantage. As time goes on you may find that you have trouble getting into another resort, that would be time to try an add on.

Saying that, we own at three resorts. VWL, where it can be had to get in at times because of the size. AKV because DH loves it there and VGC. If you thought you would be going to DLR often then you might want to consider VGC because it may be hard getting into the villas as time goes on and I don't like the other two DLR hotels. It is a little complicated dealing with multiple resorts -- luckily they are all the same use year.

Trust me, you will be dealing with addonitis the whole time you own so you might as well figure out a way to deal with it. It can get much, much worse!

Good luck with that addonitis!

:)We own at 2 resorts (OKW & BWVs). Initially we bought OKW and added on there. Then last year we decided after staying at BWVs a few times that we wanted to have the 11 mo. advantage so we bought 150 pts. there. IMHO (for what it's worth) is to stay at the BCVs and then try another resort that you think you might like and then make your decision. If you decide to go for a second "home", to make record keeping easier I would stick to the same Use Year. In our case all 3 contracts have an Oct. UY.

Good luck with your decision and :welcome:Home!

We will be adding on at SSR, we own at AKVZ. Main reason is we would like to stay in the THV and without owning SSR that will never happen. Other then that SSRs resale price is very appealing. We will be adding on a smaller contract so that we can bank and borrow and stay in teh THV every 3 years. This will allow us to also get a bigger room at AKV or stay SV since we will be able to bank an entire years worth of points every 3 years. Now that I finally have it all figured out I am just waiting for DH to say make the call.

We own at 2 resorts (BWV and BLT). First bought at BWV because we love to stay there, and the convenience of getting to Epcot and DHS. That was pre-kids. Once BLT was available, we now have 1 little one and will soon have a second, so walking to MK is perfect for us (plus I like the 2 bathrooms in a 1 bedroom, which I hope will mean as a family of 4, we can stay with a 1 bedroom vs. a 2 bedroom when the little ones are not so little).

We make reservations at the 11 month window at BLT. I borrow what I need to from the next UY. Then, at the 7 month window, I call and see if I can swap out BLT points for BWV points (if there is still availabilitiy, you can). This frees up my CY points to bank for next year (replacing some of what I borrowed). I did this for our Dec. 2009 and Jan 2011 trips.

We hope in Dec. 2011/Jan 2012 to try out DL at GCV if we can book it. After than, the little ones will be a bit bigger, and I'd like to stay having split stays (3 - 4 nights ea. at BLT and BWV) so we can walk to 3 of the 4 parks.

Owning at more than one home resort improves your odds of getting a reservation there when you want it.

As additional members are added and more buy at one resort but never seem to stay there, competing at 7 months is getting tougher.

After several booking disappointments, we decided to buy at our favorite resorts, unfortunately so far we have 5 favorites. :goodvibes

We own at 2 resorts also, SSR & AKV. We bought in at SSR before THV came along and now I am so happy we have those contracts! We bought a smaller contract at AKV to have the 11 month window for concierge stays - we really enjoy having that option and its very tough to get concierge without the 11 month booking window.

We own at BCV & BLT for similar reasons... because of the close proximity to park(s) and the ability to book at 11 months... especially for MK view at BLT.
