Conviction in Old Murder Case - Justice for Marcia Trimble

The death of this poor child back in 1975 was such a shock to the entire area. Most people say that this case alone caused the city to lose its innocence. After all of these years it is a real tribute to the cold case police who never forgot this poor child and followed the development of new technology and used it to solve this case.

As far as this nasty killer, I was beyond appalled that he chose to wear pastel pink to his trial for killing a little 9 year old girl. It may have meant nothing but it just didn't seem right.

The verdict was moot; he was already serving a life sentence without parole. However, her mother is still living and got some closure. And any hope this man afforded himself is now gone.

I agree, it is great to see justice for her family!! Great job Nashville Police Detectives!!

This happened before I was even born, but I have heard about it my whole life. I believe this has probably been Nashville's biggest unsolved murder until now. So glad this family finally has some closure, although I am sure it brings little comfort.

The death penalty was not in effect at the time he murdered the young girl. As I understand it, the penalty available at the time was 25 years which was called life. The jury actually came back with a recommendation of 44 years which coincidentally is how old she would be now. I don't know if they did that on purpose. In an interview afterwards, the police described him as an individual without a conscious who sees himself as the victim. He had already been sentenced to life in another case so this poor excuse for a human will not ever get out of prison.
