Convert Site Only Reservation to Package?

Question for you guys -

I think I read someone mention that you can make site-only reservations and at a later date add package components - is this correct?

The cancellation and change policies on site-only ressies seem a lot more flexible. We're thinking next spring, but we have a "geriatric" dog that we'd be leaving behind with a sitter. Of course if her condition is too fragile to leave her with someone we would postpone our trip (she's a lab who will be 14 in November - she's arthritic and we carry her up and down stairs right now). I mean, sadly she may not be with us by that time, or she may still be going strong...its just tough to guess this stuff.

Anyway, we've done the Quick Service plan in the past and it worked well for us, so I'd like to do it again...(of couse I know we could just pay OOP and probably do better), thus the question about converting to a package...I don't think they let you just tack on the DDP to a site-only ressie, correct? It needs to be part of a package, I think. So as the date gets closer and the situation is more clear with our fur-girl, I would like to commit to a package, but I'm thinking that I'd at least want site ressies as far out as possible.

Thanks!

It can and is done, we have done it ourselves.

The only problem is, if it's during "peak season" there is a slim chance you could loose the site. When you change they have to cancel the first ressie and make a new one. The possiblility is always there that someone could snap up the site before your new ressie is made.
Also they don't transfer the deposit, they credit the original one back to your CC and charge a full deposit.

Yes to the DDP, you must buy at least a one day ticket for everyone.

Thanks Mnsprk, that makes sense. So if they don't transfer the deposit and they cancel then re-book, couldn't one just book the package then cancel the site only when ready to convert?

Don't know why that wouldn't work as well. If my memory serves me correctly (and at my age it ain't always correct) you have to cancel "room only" 7 days out.

Hope "puppy" gets better!

If you have annual passes, you can convert the "site=only" to AP Dining Plan package without tickets. Ask Rhonda to be sure, but I think that can be done as late as 3 days out.

Great, thanks guys! I always love having the incentive of having AP's...kind of forces that next vacation ;) So maybe I should seriously consider that route.
