Convention tickets - is there a catch?

So as suggested on mousesavers, I did a google search for "convention WDW" and several popped up. There is a convention in June and there is an online order form for discounted tickets. The tickets include the 4 parks and DQ/PI. We are going at Christmas so do not want/need water parks but the DQ admission would be terrific especially considering the 5-day hoppers give 5 days to DQ or PI as well. There is no place on the order form that asks IF anyone in my party is attending the convention. Will the tickets (other than they must be used before 12/30/04) indicate they are special, will someone ask for convention info at the gates? Has anyone used convention tickets and encountered problems or sailed right thru? The price for 5-day hopper plus 5 DQ/PI is $238. There are several ticket options, 2-day, 3-day, 4-day, and after 2pm tickets as well. Would you purchase?

The catches:

• Convention tickets expire on 12/31/04, unlike PHPs, which never expire.
• Once used, convention tickets expire within 10 days. You cannot save unused portions for another visit later in the same calendar year.
• Convention tickets are meant for convention goers and their families. Disney does have the right to ask for proof of convention attendance when you use these tickets. There have been some posts about people being asked to show ID and being turned away at the gate if they do not have any.

My own personal experience two years ago was that we were never asked to show ID. However, we were there for a meeting and had the ID to show if we had been. I wouldn't purchase convention passes if I were not attending one. I wouldn't want to risk losing that much money.
