I had 5 nights come through on a waitlist for a value studio in November. I was then able to go online and snag the sixth night, though I now have two separate reservation numbers. I called MS and the CM said she was able to make them a "continuing" reservation so that I wouldn't have to check out/in but she couldn't link them under the same travel plan number without cancelling and rebooking all 6 nights. Does this sound correct?

Next, I have a related question to the dining plan. Since they are set up under two separate reservations in the system, can I add a different dining plan to each of them? For example, DDP to the 5 night and DxDP to only the 6th night? Or DDP to the 5 night and no dining to the 6th night? When I play with it on the online system it seems like it will let me do this but I didn't know if it would cause problems while I'm actually there.

Either way will I end up having to get new KTTW cards for the 6th night?

Thanks!

Last week, I went to make reservations for next March in a 2BR Value villa at AKL.

I was not able get the first two days, so I booked a Std View 2BR instead.

So I had a 2 night STD View and a 3 night Value 2BR reservation.

I called member services to have them linked, the person said that she made them a 'continuing' reservation and that we be staying in the same room for the entire trip.

When I look at my trips in DVCMEMBERS, I see a 5 night reservation, no seperate segments, only one reservation number.

They didn't say anything about needing to cancel and rebook to join them.

So who knows what really happens.

Which view does your reservation show? And did you check the number of points used? Normally, reservations for different room types or views can't be linked or combined. Sounds like they re-booked your reservation, and changed the view for one of the two original bookings.

Did you possibly have an active wait list for the 2 additional value nights that might have come through?

Don't know if it always works this way but ...
we had a "linked" reservation at OKW last month. They knew at check-in that we would be able to keep the same room, but we had to get new keys and our DDP was separate.
They screwed up our housekeeping too. We did not get a full cleaning on the day we officially had to recheck-in (which I didn't expect since the reservation was linked) BUT they also did not come on what sshould have been the trash and towel day :worried:. When we called about that they sent someone over who just dumped new towels in our room without collecting the old or emptying the trash, or leaving new toiletries. I was less than impressed!

As PP stated, you should check and see what they did with your reservation and your points. A value and a standard room are not the same and you would need to switch rooms if this is what you have reserved. If a CM tells you otherwise, they are wrong.

Bumping this to see if anyone else can offer insight into my original questions, or if dr&momto2boys' situation is what I should expect.

Thanks! :)

I would have to say no - that doesn't sound correct. I was recently waitlisted for 1 night for next January at BLT (same room type/category as my original reservation). Yesterday I received 2 e-mails. The first one indicated that the waitlist had come through and I had the night. The second e-mail showed my ENTIRE reservation i.e. the 4 nights I already had booked and the new night that was added. It was one reservation with a different reservation number than the number that came in with the first e-mail for just the one night.

I would suggest calling again and speaking to a manager to clear it up for sure. If it is the same room type/category then I don't see why it wouldn't be all the same reservation. If they can't do it then I don't know why it worked that way with mine...

As for your DDP question, sorry, I don't have any experience with that. My guess is that 2 reservations mean you could do 2 plans and yes, you would have to get new key cards, but that's just a guess. Hopefully someone else can chime in on this one.
