Continental Credit Card - 1st checked bag free

Continental is offering the 1st checked bag free if you have their card, similar to what Delta is doing....

My question is this..... if I book a rewards tickets through the Continental site but my flight is on a partner airline, in my case United, will the first checked bag still apply? I am guessing I will have to go with whatever the actual carrier is when it comes to baggage fees, but I thought I would ask to see if anyone has any experience with this one...

Here is Continental's response,
Thank you for contacting the Continental Baggage Resolution Center.

As a Chase credit card holder, you are exempt from baggage fees only when
traveling on Continental. We apologize for any inconveniences.

I also just found this on United's site
Note: Continental Airlines Chase cardmembers are not able to check bags for free on United- and United Express-operated flights.

Thanks for doing that bit of homework. the $89/per year fee isn't looking that such a deal now. I may be cancelling this card next year.

I wonder if you will be able to check a bag for free when Continental completes the merge with United?
