Trying to decide between Contemporary and Grosvenor (DD), so any help with pros and cons would be appreciated. We have been to WDW twice in the past three years. Last time we stayed at Grosvenor. We're coming for MNSSHP in October and I know DS (8) was really tired last year after the event. CR is a little more money, but the closeness to the parks and Disney feel make it a toss up.

IMHO, CR is the way to go! Especially if you're going for "the party" we are REALLY looking forward to the convience of the monorail!! Plus there's the great arcade and Chef Mickey's at the resort!

That's my pick!!!

GO TO THE CONTEMPORARY! It is much more convienent and you have the monorail access. I personally had a terrible experience at the Grosvenor but ADORED the Contemporary! The amenities and closeness to the parks is worth spending the extra money!

I've stayed at both resorts, and there's no comparison. Definitely stay at the CR! It's better in every way than the Grosvenor.

I too would definitely go for the Contemporary. The location is wonderful, and the resort itself is very nice. It may not be as fanciful on the outside as some others, but there is plenty of character inside, and you're always just a short monorail ride to the Poly and GF.

I couldn't agree more. I have stayed at both. I had to stay at the Grosvenor for a convention and it was a dive. I called to complain about the room being dirty and not cleaned and I remember the door to the hallway being ajar and not quite fitting into the doorframe. It was terrible. Even if you don't experience these same problems, the contemporary is by far the most convenient.

Hope that helps

IMHO I would stay directly on site if at all possible. I think the CR would be wonderful!

I once checked into the Grosvenor, and checked out the same day. I don't know if it was just my room or if they all looked like they needed help?

Contemporary! The location is unbeatable and the resort itself is great because of restaurants, pools, monorail, arcade and again location!

I can't believe your even debating between off property or on! Pay the extra and truly imerse yourself in the Disney experience. Wake up in the morning and look off your balcony and see the Magic Kingdom, go out your door and see the Monorail zip by. Take the elevator up to the top and have a light snack of a flat bread pizza from the California Grill (Top of the World lounge to us Die Hards) and then take your drink and stroll out on the walkways on top of the resort and watch the MK fireworks. Staying in the park CAN NOT BE BEAT!!!!:p

Thanks for all the input. Most folks said what I already felt. In the morning how early do you have to leave on the buses to get to the parks (AK & MGM) when they open? I remember for the DD properties it was 8:00am. Does the bus pick up at the resort?
