A silly stupid question. Has anyone ever booked a Garden Wing room at the Contemporary and got an upgrade to the Tower by asking at check-in when they got there?

We have tried a few times to be upgraded to the tower, but it never happened for us. My aunt went a few monthes ago and they bookd a garden wing and they were upgraded to the tower without even asking.

No, but we did have a garden room booked and we were upgraded to a wing room at no extra charge. We didn't request it either. Had a great view of Bay Lake, and could lie in bed at night and watch the electrical light pageant. The walk to the main Tower was nowhere near as bad as you would think, either. About 5 minutes...and maybe a minute or so longer if you go through the corridors and use the elevators. We really loved our room (6317) in the South Wing.

Have a great time:)

went on november with my parents and we had a tower room at an AP rate but they could only get a wing room at an ap rate. The tower was "sold out" even at the rack rate. I checked both myself and my parents in since they were arriving later I asked at check in if there was anything available in the tower and the CM said it was "sold out" but he pulled up mine and my parents ressie and said hold on for just a minute, dissapeared to the back for a few minutes and came back. He then smiled at me and said that I think your mom and dad will enjoy their room. He gave me the map showing the tower and circled 2 rooms on the 11th floor one room apart from each other, bay lake view (which is what I requested for our room). the CM really worked pixie dust for us!

My friend stayed at the CR last year and with 2 small toddlers and a very very late arrival time. She called that AM directly to the hotel. She wanted to ensure they had a crib in the room when they checked in, so they didn't have to deal with it at midnight or so when they got there. They were booked for a garden room and also wanted first floor because of the kids. They assigned her room that morning but for security reasons wouldn't tell her the room number. When she got there at midnight, and they assigned her a room, she wanted to make sure her requests were taken care of (crib, first floor, etc.). They shifted her around again, but long story short, they had assigned her to the tower but because she was so focused on the crib and her other requests, she didn't realize this until later. She ended up in the wing with a room as requested and still had a great time!

We are going to be staying here in April. An upgrade would be wonderful, but I guess I won't get my hopes up during such a busy time of year.

We went last year and arrived on July 4. We had used a code off of mousesavers and got a great rate of $139. We didn't ask for it but we did get upgraded to a tower room. It was wonderful. We did get there around 11:00 am though. We figured that that must have something to do with it since we usually get there late in the evening.
