Contemporary Tower vs Garden Wing

We are booked for one night at the Contemporary at the end of a split stay at AKL. We will be going to the Hallowe'en party that night, and wanted a quick exit. We will need to check out by 9am for our noon flight the next day.

I am currently booked in a garden wing room for $330.

I just saw I can get a Tower room - Bay Lake view for $503 or Tower room - theme Park view for $541. I would definitely do theme park view over bay lake view for less than $40 difference.

I'm so tempted.....because it is only for one night. We plan to hang around the resort most of the day, going to the party probably at 6ish....

What is the difference between the Tower and the Garden wing? Is it more convenient to be in the tower?

We would never pay the "extra" to stay in a theme park room for 4 or 5 nights...at a cost of $1000 or more, but since we are only staying one night, it might be our only chance to stay theme park view.

Thoughts?

I've stayed in the tower in a TPV. It is absolutely amazing, but in all honesty, if you are not going to have the opportunity to watch Wishes from your room, it wouldn't be worth it in my opinion. I'd stick with the Garden Wing.

The Garden Wing could be closer to the pool, depending on where your room is. I went over to the Garden Wing to do laundry, but never stayed there. I think the rooms are identical. The view from the tower can't be beat, though! We loved it at the Contemporary.

Great point! I guess the other thing this made me think is that the reason we are staying at the Contemporary also is because my son has autism, and may decide he wants to leave the party a lot earlier than my daughter will want to. Depending on his mood, he could want to stay past fireworks, or he may want to leave before they start. So it is possible hubby and my son could be watching the fireworks from the room.

Here are a couple of posts from another thread that has info on your Tower vs Garden View challenge:

For one night, I would vote for saving about $200 by choosing the Garden View. Your DH and DS can always view the Fireworks or just take in the nighttime MK view by stopping by the 4th floor north patio.

Note: If you plan to spend a lot of time in your room during the day and would like a great view, then I would go for the TPV from the tower. Great for people watching with the MK in the background. We love to sit on the balcony and watch the boat traffic on the Seven Seas Lagoon and the Monorails cycling (when they are actually running...now). In the past we could watch the Monorails until 2 AM during most visits but not currently.

Awesome! Thank you! The patio is open to anyone? I didn't realize there was a public viewing area :)

The patio is open, just step out the doors. I tend to stay away from the traditional usage of the phrase: public viewing, I would consider this "pubic" space for CR resort guests. However, there are no restrictions on who has access to the 4th floor concourse!

For only one night? I think that I would go for the tower TPV and enjoy the lovely view of the MK area. Plus, if DH and DS end up back at the room, it is also very special watching Wishes from your own balcony.

Either way, enjoy the CR! It is tied with the Poly and GF as my fav WDW resort.
