Contemporary Tower Question

Right now I have ressies for a wing room at CR. I would like to change it to a tower room, but I only want to be on the MK side. To me it won't be worth the extra cost on the other side. My question then is, can they guarantee an MK view when you request it or is it the luck of the draw? I know many requests at the various resorts are not guaranteed.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I don't believe that any room/view is guaranteed.

We were just down at the Contemporary in April and we were on the 14th floor. I had requested a MK view but did not get it. At first I was disappointed - until I saw our room. We LOVED the view of the lake!! Lots of activity going on down there and lots to see. At night we could see the high fireworks from EPCOT. During the day we could see all the various boats on the water. Every morning we saw someone parasailing.

One night we watched the MK fireworks from the conierge lounge balcony. While it was nice to see the MK, you also see the parking lot! During the time we were there they were doing work near the parking lot so it might have been noisy. We had no noise from our room.

So while it WOULD be nice to have a MK view, you may like the view of the lake!

Hope you get what you want! :)

The tower views are NOT guarranteed. Would be nice. :hyper: Many would pay for that. ;) But is definately the luck of the draw. Maybe keep the garden, ask at check -in about an upgrade, if available and the view available? And then pay for it if it is? ::yes:: The CR also lets guest move for views the next day etc... if the view is not available that day, if you don't mind moving. ::MickeyMo

Good luck, mky princess:

Honestly, I wouldn't worry about it. The Bay Lake side has as many advantages as the MK side. You can see the Electrical Water Pageant and Epcot. There are so many places from which to see the MK at the Contemporary that it won't matter so much.

It sounds like you can't go wrong in the Tower at the CR...is that accurate? Does every CR Tower room view either the lake or the MK? If not, are there any "bad views" to try to avoid (e.g. lower level dumpster view?)

Fortunately the CR has no dumpster views, but obviously the higher you are, the better the view. The 5 and 6th floors are closest to the parking lot (that's another disadvantage of the MK side, by the way: you'll see the MK, Poly, GF, and Lagoon, all right, but encumbered by the parking lot below. You don't have that problem on the Bay Lake Side!) and thus might be a disadvantage, but not enough to worry about changing rooms.

By the way, I'm booked in a Garden Wing view for this June. I actually prefer the Bay Lake view. I fell in love with the first-floor rooms at the farthest end of the wings overlooking the lake. They look so quiet!

The tower rooms start on the 5th lake view or 6th floor magic kingdom (parking lot) view. The dumpster's are located on the side of the tower behind barrier's so that the tower nor the wing's have view's of them. ;)

There are really no bad views at the the tower of the CR. :earseek:

MKY....sorry to hear about your 10th floor tower room!
Ewwww!

on the other hand, we were on the 11th floor, MK view, odd numbered room and LOVED it!
The room was immaculately clean and looked new!
And the bathroom was very large and nicely laid out.
Loved having an extra sink in a sep toilet area.

Watch the castle change colors all night.....I awoke at 4 am one morning, and it was still changing colors! WOW!
We watched Wishes one night from our balcony and felt like we could just reach out and touch the fireworks!

Only complaint....when it rained, the water on the balcony had no where to drain and would collect water.

other than that, the CR Tower is wonderful!:sunny:

Yup! I agree!

We've requested a Bay view for our Sept trip. I have it on good authority ;) that part of the Epcot fireworks can be seen.

We'll have the MK view from the concierge lounge & the lake from our room.:teeth:

I'm sorry for this question but what do you mean by the 5th floor is a lake view and the 6th floor is a MK view? Did I read that correctly? Does each floor have a different view? I am staying their and requested a smoking Tower room, which I heard was on the 8th floor, does anyone know what view that is? or has anyone stayed in a smoking tower room that can tell me what room number you were in?

The Tower has two sides: the MK side and the Bay Lake side, both of which are on the same floor. In other words, the 6th floor or the 8th floor or whichever floor you select at random will have MK and Bay Lake rooms. Go to wdwig.com and check out the pictures.

The tower is and A frame. So the sides of the A front and back are the rooms! On the left and right are large window's. This is where the monorail travels thru. On the ground next to the bottom is a service area on both sides. ;)

We were at CR 12th Floor Concierge two weeks ago. we had requested a MK view but were given a lake view instead. We could have moved the next day if wanted to but we did not want to go through the hassel. The lake view is beautiful. You can see the lake and the Electric Water Pagent every clear night at 10:00 PM. You can also see the Epcot fireworks which are far off to the right when out on your balcony. You also have a great view of the pool from this side. We did watch the MK fireworks from the outside balcony at the north end of the building. These balconies are part of the stairs but were very large. We were told that they are a great spot to watch from and they were right.
