Good day!
It has been awhile, but my hubby and I are taking our niece (16) with us on a week trip over my birthday (January 26-Feb1/2025). Adding her on was a last minute decision, but I am looking forward to showing her wdw and all our favourite things! We booked AKL because it is my hubby's favourite resort and the first resort we ever stayed at and the one that made us fall in love with WDW in 2008 on our first ever family trip. I currently have the canadian resident offer booked and a club level room savannah view at AKL. I am considering switching, but not much is available to switch to for this offer/or time period. I managed to find something at Contemporary resort Theme Park view Main tower/ but it is not club level. The one plus is there is a pull out queen sofa bed she could stay on. Currently there are only 2 Queen beds in our AKL room and I would have to hope for a cot, or else smoosh in with my hubby in a Queen and give her the second Queen (not looking forward to sleeping 2 to a Queen, but it can be done if needed)
WWYD???
Would you choose the Contemporary Main Tower Theme park view Non Club ($100 more/ with ddp and park hopper 6 day pass) or keep the club level at AKL ?? I usually love CL for the quick morning breakfast and the extra space to visit when we want to relax at the resort instead of being stuck in the room... When I put it that way, I am kind of leaning towards keeping club level might be best. Thoughts?? We have never stayed at the Contemporary either

FYI…. If you’re talking about the Contemporary resort & not Bay Lake DVC, it does not have a Queen pull out sofa. It is a twin day bed. The back of the sofa pulls down to be slept on. Depending on your niece it may or may not be comfortable for that many nights. My husband & I have had a queen bed for our whole marriage, so sleeping in a queen wouldn’t be an issue for us. We’ve never stayed at AKL so no thoughts on that. But looking out at the monorail, MK & being able to walk there sounds like an amazing way to introduce someone to WDW.

If you can handle the 2 queen beds, I would stick with AKL. You save the $100 plus get the value of food/beverage in the club. I've stayed at both and AKL is a far superior resort IMHO. CR has the location going for it, but other than that, it's not great.

I would go CR since you are bringing your niece. The rooms are substantially bigger and the location is more convenient to the parks. You will be there during FotArts and the monorail will be more efficient for Epcot visits.

I am going to vote AKL since it will give you extra space to hang out in and also all of the food options. My husband and I have a king bed at home but often sleep in a queen on vacation and it works out just fine. AKL is such a unique resort and being able to unwind in the lounge after coming back from the parks is such a nice bonus.

I would vote for the CR TPV room and request and odd numbered room so you can see the Castle from bed. Now the real discussion begins. Will you b making a late start in the Morning to take advantage of breakfast at the AKL CL (it opens at 7 AM)?

Next will you be staying late in the parks or will you be back at the AKL at 5:30 PM to take advantage of all the evening offerings?

Finally are you thinking of the regular DDP Quick service or the Deluxe version with table service dining? Table service dining does take a lot of time in the day.

When I put it that way, I am kind of leaning towards keeping club level might be best. Thoughts?? We have never stayed at the Contemporary either
This is were it comes down to a personal choice for your group of 3.

Hi Dave, I am thinking we will definitely take time to have breakfast at AKL cl lounge. we will probably come back in the day to relax/use the pool. I chose the ddp that includes 1 TS, and 1 QS...there where only those 2 choices (QS or the one with 1TS and 1 QS and 1 snack) when I booked - not sure if that's because I booked a Canadian resident package ...but we always have had the 1 TS, 1QS and 1 snack ddp with CL and it works perfectly with how we like to eat. I think I have decided to keep AKL as it is pretty unique, and it was the first resort we ever stayed at and started our love of all things WDW. I thought for nostalgia it would be lovely, I know it means bussing, but that has never been a concern in the past and it adds to the nostagia too I think :) That welcome message when driving always warms my heart. I have stayed at most Deluxe resorts - POLY CL, BWI CL, YC CL, BC CL, WL CL, PoFQ (only mod I ever stayed at and I realized I am 100% a Deluxe resort lover!), Out of all the resorts, YC is probably our favourite Deluxe near epcot. I wanted to try WL CL deluxe room, as I thought that would probably fit our needs the best and I only have ever stayed one night at WL... I thought the boat would be a nice touch, but the resort has not room for our dates in January. I definitely love CL and really do not wish to give it up, so I think that leaves AKL CL as our best bet :)

Yes, I agree! Stay with AKL club level. The lounge is awesome! and the AKL is so much nicer than the CR.......even though I really do love the CR as well! LOL
