has anyone done this before? Is February a bad time to visit SeaWorld? (Figuring it'll be colder, they may not have all the shows they typically have.)

Since there's a pretty big spike in the last night we're staying at the Contemporary (Saturday 2/16) due to the Presidents Week coming up, do you think it'll be cheaper for us to check-out a day earlier and instead stay at a hotel more local to SeaWorld than to taxi back and forth from the Contemporary to Seaworld, and back again? Or the cost of a hotel near Seaworld and then finding transportation to get from that hotel back to Orlando airport the next day, will be more?

We already booked our flights, so we're locked into staying in Orlando until the 16th, its just a matter of can we throw in a day at SeaWorld while we're there? (DD is years away from doing a Universal trip, yet I know she'll love SeaWorld now).

Thanks in advance!!

February can be cold sometimes but its pretty rare (Only when cold fronts move through and even then its usually 60-70 as a high which lasts for a day or two) . You should have very nice temperatures. If it is cold, Seaworld doesn't cancel shows do to the cold. The only way a show gets cancelled is if there is a bad thunderstorm with a lot of lightning. Staying at a hotel near Seaworld is probably a better option because Seaworld partner hotels offer special perks like "Quick Queue" which is the Seaworld equivalent of a Disney fast past. However, quick queue is unlimited. Special perks may also include an all day dining deal.

Here is more info on those....

We always used to go in February, and although it was a bit chillier, SeaWorld was always good, especially if the weather was dull and overcast in the morning, as the park would be quieter :)

There is a very convenient Lynx bus that goes from the Ticket and Transportation Center to Sea World - number 50 - you can check on www.golynx.com. It costs $2 a person and it is a pretty short ride - stops at DTD and along Palm Parkway but then on to Sea World - runs every 30 minutes. If it were me I'd stay at the Contemporary and do an easy day trip to Seaworld. I've been staying at a hotel near Sea World and visiting both Disney and Sea World - it is very near and the bus transportation is fairly good.
