Right now, I am booked into the garden wing for an AP price of $151.00. To stay in the Tower, I was quoted approximately $100 more. Should I go for it, we leave Thursday, or wait until I get there and either hope for an upgrade or at that time see if there is a castle view available and then decide. I do not know what my chances are of being upgraded, is this a slow time? I have never been upgraded in all my years of going to WDW, so I do not give this much hope. What do you all think? Thanks.

We had a great time in the wings... had a room overlooking Bay Lake and could lie in bed and watch the Electrical Light Pageant every night!

If you are thinking of staying in the tower, request the front overlooking MK. Otherwise, you may as well save the $100 and stay in a Bay Lake front wing room.

We went off season 2 years ago - the parks were practically empty. However, when we checked into the CR there was not chance for an upgrade to the tower, even if we were willing to pay for it. There was a big convention going on and the CR was full, even while most of WDW was nowhere near full.

I was upgraded to a tower room from a garden wing last June; but that was the first time in 6 visits so don't count on this long shot. Never thought the tower rooms were worth the extra money until I stayed there. If you can work a tower room into your budget, you will not regret spending the extra money.

I have stayed in both. Our first trip was in the North wing. We were on the 2nd floor, about 1/2 way down. We had a lovely time. We really enjoyed the wing as it was quiet. We could see the top of the MK and had a GREAT view of the FW's from our window.

Last Sept, we were on the 14th floor. We requested & received a view of the lake. The view was INCREDIBLE. Worth every penny. We went to the concierge lounge to watch the FW & see the MK.

So, when we again stay at the CR, if funds were "tight", I would not hesitate to stay in the wings. I would prefer the tower, but $100 ($700 for a week) is a lot of $$$.

Since you're leaving soon, I think *I'd* wait till I arrived to upgrade. Generally, upgrades upon arrival are less expensive. January is generally a slow month, so unless a big convention is booked, I don't think you'd have a problem. However, if you *really* want a tower, you should change now. Another possibility, is to book a couple of night in the tower, then the rest in a wing room.

Whatever you choose, you'll have a wonderful time! Check out my pic's below. Note, most of the balcony shots were taken with a zoom.
