We loved the garden wing. The rooms are great- exactly like those in the tower. Try to get a first floor room, so you can have a patio. Our patio looked out on the pool & the lake. Also, the garden wing is much quieter than the tower- no noise from Chef Mickey's or the lobby. It's about a 30-second walk from the entrance of the garden wing to the entrance of the tower, so convenience is a non-issue, especially if you get the ground floor. The garden wing is so much cheaper & so high-quality, I wouldn't even consider staying at the tower. Have fun!

We stayed in the garden wing in December of 2015. The rooms are amazing and large and lovely. I didn't mind the walk to the main building but we're active people and it's not far. If you can score a room overlooking Bay Lake that would be lovely. I didn't, mine faced the main building but the upside was I could see fireworks from our window. We've stayed at 5 different deluxe resorts and I didn't love the Contemporary overall, unfortunately, other than the rooms. The quick service place is loud and busy with all of the Chef Mickey's stuff happening along side it, it's a loud resort, the pool was just ok. Everyone likes the walk to and from MK, and in the morning it was nice, for sure, but at the end of the day, we perferred to just get on the monorail. We prefer EP and HS to MK, so it doesn't make sense for us to stay there anymore, but if you're in MK a lot, it's a good option.

I stayed at both and love the garden wing. I got vertigo staying at the tower.
I watched a video of someone going into their club level room and I thought I was going to fall out my chair!! I like my resorts low to the ground!

The CR is a wonderful place to stay! You are only a few minutes walk from the MK!!!! Yay! No worrying about getting a bus, monorail running or not, or boats. Yes, you can take the monorail, but why bother? It is so close - you are practically living in Tomorrowland! The restaurants are great! You have Chef Mickey's at your resort with Mickey Mouse himself as a character! The Contempo Cafe has good food for quick service. Then there is the Wave which is a hidden gem, and California Grille at the top of the tower! YUM! You have a boat to both FW and WL or monorail to the Poly and GF, so there are four fantastic resorts with all their dining and entertainment options at your doorstep. The pool is simple, but looks over Bay Lake and is never, in our experience, crowded. For any other resorts on WDW property, you can walk 5 minutes to the MK bus stop to use the resort bus from there.
The rooms are large and comfortable. The first floor rooms have a patio and, although they don't have a balcony, the 2nd and 3rd floor rooms have patio door that open to a rail which allow the fresh air in and the ability to pull up a chair and enjoy the view by that railing.

There is an exciting energy to the tower, but the garden wing is peaceful and quiet. Some rooms have lovely relaxing views of Bay Lake or the waterway or pool.

enjoy your stay in the CR!!! Convenience and comfort are wonderful here.

The hotel rooms are lovely. You can get some awesome views (I've only done one night there).

I wasn't too keen on the lobby area but the rooms are amazing.

What a wonderfully descriptive and informative post! Well said Babsy!:goodvibes

We stayed in the garden wing for the first time this June and absolutely loved it! I thought the rooms were super nice and spacious, and the whole wing was very quiet. We were on the first floor with a room that faced the lake, so we were only steps from the lake and pool. We walked outside one night and watched the Electrical Water pageant. Being able to walk to MK was a huge plus for us! The only negative was the pool - it is kind of plain (really wish they would refurb it). We will definitely be staying there again!

We loved the garden wing! We went when it was just "us two" and we lucked out with a king bed. The rooms had just undergone complete refurbishment, and they were awesome! Huge! We had a first floor room with a lovely view of the lake. Definitely request a first floor because second floor rooms don't have a balcony.

ITA! Really the only thing we don't like about the CR is the pool! It's kind of lame. That's why we chose the Polynesian this trip. We'd stay at the CR in the winter again though in a heartbeat!

Our first onsite stay in years, and with a kid, was in the garden wing, and we LOVED it. It was so peaceful and quiet, and I liked not having to rely on the elevators in the main building to get to my room. They always seemed super crowded. (You can get to most of the restaurants and other things in the tower building by escalator.) There is also a covered walkway to the tower building so the daily monsoons didn't affect us at all. We had a great view of the water pageant (to this day, that song gets stuck in my head), and it was really a lovely escape for our midday breaks.
