I have heard that there is a place to watch the MK fireworks from the Contemporary.

At this time I am booked in a wing room and I am still debating about changing to a tower room. (Of course, I may have waited too long at this point anyway.) I would really like to watch the fireworks from the resort one night.

So, I am wondering does this place exist and can an guest of the CR go and use it?

If yes, does anyone have experiences that they can share?

Thanks.

You used to be able to watch the fireworks from the top floor by the California Grill restaurant but now that is for guests of the restaurant only.

There is also an observation deck on the 4th floor near the shops. The music is piped in and it's very nice. Anyone can use it.

Just ask for a north wing room with a view of the fireworks. We had a GREAT view from our room. Nothing like watching it in your jammies! ;)

Thanks.

Kimberle, I am just curious, did your room in the North wing have a balcony?

Do any of the wing wing rooms have balconies?

There are no balconies in the Wings but if you get a floor level room, you will have a patio!

I think it is worth it to upgrade to a tower room, but they won't gaurantee a MK view. Despite some reports that the 15th floor observation deck is closed to all but California Grill patrons, I haven't seen any official policy (though someone here will likely post it), and I've never been asked if I was a patron when I've been on the deck. I've also never gone on the deck unless I was a patron, but I'm not sure how this could even be enforced. Even still, you could go up to the lounge, ordr a sprite, and then you'd be a patron, so you could watch the fireworks from the deck. This is, IMHO the best place in all of WDW to watch the old "Fantasy In The Sky" fireworks, but wishes misses a little from this angle. Still, it is a nice way to see the fireworks.

As a side note, the CR is my favorite resort, and we've stayed at it plenty of times. I understand why there may be a policy against vistors going to the observation deck because getting an elevator afterwards is a nightmare. Still, it only lasts for 15 minutes at the most, so I don't think this is something to get too excited over.
