Just returned from the Contemporary North Wing last night. Thought I would post a little about our room and our thoughts. We arrived on 12/6 at about 10:00 am. Our rooms were ready. We requested one king bed for my dad, which we didn't get. Also, we did not get the bed rails that I asked for. I could have called and received them, but I just put my youngest in bed with me and dd4 slept with dh. I requested north wing and we received that. We had rooms 7278 & 7279. These were parking lot view. You could see the castle from our rooms. 7278 had a tree in front of the glass doors, but you could see it through the tree if you looked good. 7279 had a better view. We could see the fireworks from our rooms. There was a refridgerator in both rooms. THe refridgerator in our room had a spill in it and smelled a little. Mousekeeping was outside our room and I just asked if they could clean it and immediately did. They each had queen beds. The rooms were clean. The carpet is a little worn, but other than that was okay. Mousekeeping did a good job cleaning every day. It was a little bit of walk to to fun and arcade center and to get to monorail, but not that bad. Pretty quiet area. We went out on playground one day, which is located by the north wing. Also, used the boat service to FW, which was very nice. ONe night the power went out, and it was very hot in the room (not sure what happened there). I did find I was getting up in the middle of the night to turn the air back on. We would definately stay at the CR again. The colors did not bother us at all. It was very convenient to use the monorail. DH says we would have to stay in the tower next time, just to be closer to the monorail and to be higher up. But for the price, we had a really good deal. If you have any questions I will be happy to answer.

Was there a day bed in your room? Could it have slept 5? Thanks!

Yes, there was a day bed. We didn't use it, but you could definately sleep 5. The rooms were very roomy.

Ummm I'm sorry for the spill. Seriously.

We had those two exact rooms from dec 3rd to sunday the 5th. My 3 year old son spilled some soda in the fridge. We were in the room with the tree in front 7278 i think. So if that was the room, i'm sorry. The rooms were very roomy and Mousekeeping did a good job when we there and turndown was very nice to come home to each night.

Oh, that's okay. I wasn't complaining, just stating there was a spill and mousekeeping took care of it immediately. I was very happy with the service there. I didn't even think about turndown, that would have been nice. Must do that next time.

How funny that you guys were in the EXACT same room?

We just got back from the CR. We had a room in the south wing. I wasnt really very impressed with the CR. Our room had a musty smell and beside the bed and between the night stand and the bed you could see crumbs and dirt. The door on the cabinet that leads to the fridge broke and they came to fix it fairly quickly but it still seemed as if it might come off again.
The room was big and had it been cleaner and no musty smell I probably would have liked it a lot more.

Too funny. Those are the same exact rooms my family stayed in back in August. If you looked to the right of the tree you could see the fireworks, right? We just turned the wishes music on the tv and watched the fireworks through 7279's glass sliders. By chance, did you have any problems with dresser drawers in 7278?

I'm having a dilemma... wing or tower... for my spring break stay the difference is $500 (total) for 3 nights... it's not that I can't afford the difference, but I'm wary of whether or not the Contemporary Tower is worth over $500 a night. Any thoughts? I know I can "request" a MK view... if we don't get it, are the rooms on the other side worth that kind of money?

I suggested to my daughter that we try the Poly instead, but she doesn't want to... she has her heart set on the Contemporary. And it fits into our plans perfectly as we have ps for CMickeys on Easter Sunday, and if I remember correctly Easter services are held at the Contemporary as well.

How long is the walk from where your rooms were in the wing to the Monorail? Did you walk to MK?

How about the pool - how is it? I don't figure it will be up to my standards  as I'm a SAB fan, but my daughter isn't as picky... she just wants a nice slide.

over 500 a night for a regular tower room sounds a little high! If you are going to stay a t the cr I would definatly stay in the tower it should be around 300 a night though not 500! we love the cr my ds 8 loved the slide and the pool (it is nothing like sab though!) we had a bay side room and had the chance to switch on our second day and decided to keep the bay side so dont worry about the view they are both worth the money. I think if you have kids the cr is a must stay they just love that the monorail goes right through the hotel and chef mickeys is also great! :Pinkbounc

I just assume it's rack rate - at spring break. The wing rooms are $1067 for 3 nights. Of course, it's MY fault for missing the codes! But I just decided to go down there a couple of nights early.

You could see the fireworks to the right of the tree. The drawers in 7278 did have problems. I think it was the middle drawer. You had to close it before the top drawer or they would not close all the way. I wish I would have thought about turning the music on with the fireworks :sad2:

i guess the prices are high at that time . they must be high at all the resorts though so i would still say take the cr if it is comparable to the other deluxe prices.

I would post this question on the comtemporary information thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=417291
I think you will get some better responses. I've never stayed tower, but I was happy with the wing room. I would like to stay in the tower next time.

The walk to the monorail probably took about 5-8 mins or so You walk to the tower and go up 3 escalators to the monorail. Or you can get on an elevator. I didn't really pay much attention to how long. It wasn't too bad. We did walk to the MK a couple of times. Not too bad of a walk. It was better than waiting in the crowds at closing to get on the monorail and have the chance of standing.

We didn't use the pool, so I don't really know. I would also ask this on the link I gave.

The only deluxes that are cheaper are AKL and WL... and I DON'T want to bus...

I just booked a wing room (garden room) for March 17-22 for $199 at the AP rate. If you are going to the parks for 4 days or are planning another trip this year, it would be worth it to get an AP.

Unfortunately we only go down once a year for 3 nights... but I did just get through and got a AAA discount for a tower room.

That's right! I can't believe they still haven't fixed that correctly! The contemporary did not have issues like this in the past. I found the maintenance only a larger problem this past trip. As for the music, no one told us, we just happened to luck out. One of us was flipping through the t.v. stations and noticed the wishes music and then noticed it coincided with the fireworks.
Next time you'll take advantage. No worries, but too funny about the rooms.
If I recall correctly 7278's toilet was a little harder to flush than 7279's as well :D

Unfortunately requests cannot always be honored. Although the side of the castle is wonderful, it's wonderful to watch the sun come up in the morning over Bay lake. I'd take it as well. Is it worth the money? If you have never stayed in the tower, I'd say yes, but if not, I'd go for a wing. The amount of time you actually spend in the hotel is minimal (at least it is for us).

We stayed at the CR in 03 for Easter. There was an Easter egg hunt behind the North wing. Cinderella and Prince charming were there for pictures as well. I felt bad for those two though. It was only the morning yet it was already very humid and about 85 degrees. They were in full costume and make up and taking photos with children.

I've stayed in all three locations (south, north and tower). Obviously the tower is the closest to the monorail, but it literally is a 3 minute walk to the main hotel and about a 2 - 5 minute ride upstairs depending on how busy the elevators are.
And if you walk the steps to the 4th floor it's only about 2 minutes once inside the hotel.

As for MK, we normally never walked to MK. However, we often walked home from the MK. That is one of our favorite parts! After the fireworks are over, the crowds are pretty large and buses and monorail lines are enormous. The walk home with DS (7 months) , DD (3.5), MIL, FIL and DW usually took about 20 minutes. Although if it were just DW and Myself it woujld have been 15 tops.

Good luck!

I realize that requests can't always be honored, but it doesn't hurt to try. I finally got through and booked the Tower... And fortunately I was able to get an AAA rate, so it wasn't "that" much more than the original price for the wing rooms.

Oh well, once we do it, if we don't like it, we'll move on to another location... it's only money... I'm usually willing to try any resort/location once.
