Contemporary for December?

Debating on WL, AKL or Contemporary for early December Love the idea of monorail service with the little ones and two strollers, etc... Just stayed at WL and loved it, can only imagine how beautiful during the holidays and AKL DH can't wait to stay there but I'm not to thrilled about bus rides to every resort with the small children (just did that) and this will be a small trip.

So, considering that the rooms @ Contemporary are so large and the monorail service is great, how are the Christmas decorations at this resort and do they have anything special going on during that time at the resort?

well when it had jolly holidays it was great.

not so much now.

they do have a ginger bread village. a big tree in the area between the shops.

You really cannot beat the convienence of the monorail, especially with two little ones and stroller(s). We stayed in a tower room last December 9-18, and we loved the quick elevator ride down to the monorail terminal. It is so much easier to push a sleeping child onto the monorail in a stroller as opposed to taking him/her out of the stroller, folding up the stroller, struggling on to a bus, waking up your child, etc., etc. ...

The atmosphere at CR, however, left my family and I underwhelmed. The hotel is nice enough, the Christmas decorations are lovely, but I didn't feel that the resort is distinctly themed at all. I think they could do better with the decorations at Christmas time especially.

All in all, I would choose a different resort the next time I go, but that is just my humble opinion!

If you are thinking of going during the first week of the December, you may be out of luck. I have ressies for 12/2-12/9 at the CR and those dates have been sold out for several months. I've been calling for AAA rates and the last several times I've called, CRO has said no rooms are available.

I stayed at the CR last year and the Christmas decorations were minimal. There was a gingerbread display on the lst floor (Pinocchio), a large tree in front the tower, and some decorations on the 4th floor.

While the Contemporary is my favorite hotel for sentimental reasons, you simply cant beat WL during the holidays. It is beautifully decorated, and is thus one of the more popular resorts around christmas. If you struggled with the little ones as far as transportation to and from the parks, I would still probably suggest the CR since you can monorail it to MK and Epcot. Then if you want to experience the decorations you can take the boat over to WL for a bit!
