Hi everyone, we are looking forward to next Mon (14th) when we arrive from Aussie land to DW:banana: Just a few quick questions regarding CR concierge.....I was listening to a podcast last night which said your room key (key to the world? card) was a different color (it was blue last time we stayed in a standard room at CR)? Why is this? Is it so they know you are staying concierge? Also it said something about not having to line up to check in....apparently they take you right up to the 12th floor? Who do we tell when we arrive that we are staying concierge......do we just go up to the 12th floor ? It also said that when you get in the lift to go to the 12th floor, you have to swipe your card or something to let the lift take you to the 12th floor? Sorry so many questions, just would like to know what to expect when we arrive! Also, what kind of food/drink offerings do they have? Also, we a bringing a basket of Aussie chocolates such as freddo frogs and caramello koalas for a little gift for the concierge staff.....we read on the boards that some people bring little food gifts, so we thought it might be nice. Is this ok to do? Who would we give them to? Thanks heaps if anyone can answer a few of my questions:wizard:

If your staying in any Conciegre floor or building in WDW you should automatically get a gold card, if you get the blue card then just ask for the gold one. When you arrive at the Contemporary tell the bellman working the bell desk that your staying on the Atrium Club on the 12th floor so he can call them to say you have arrived and the other bellman will takes your bags from your car, and take you up there so you can check-in. When your in the elevator at the Contemporary you have to instert your card for the 12th floor because it's a private Concierge floor, so they don't have everyone else who is not staying up trying to sneak up for food. As for the gifts you want to give them I am not 100% sure about this, but I think they can only be valued up to a certin price. So hopefully someone else can give you a better answer about that.

I've never received a gold key for any concierge rooms... it's always been a standard key. Considering many only use their room key to open their door, I think it has more to do with making the guests feel special, as opposed to anything else.

CRFan knows more about the CR club level, but all of them do have secure floors. Some resorts will send you an elevator key in advance, while others utilize bell services or a greeter to bring you up for private check-in. I'm sure CRFan can let you know which way it's done at the CR.

Bascially, all the club level lounges put out a coffee/tea service starting at 6:30am. From 7am - 10:30am, it's a deluxe continental breakfast... with cereal, fruit, yogurt, breads, muffins, etc. From 11am - 4pm, you can find snack foods like goldfish crackers, gummy bears, nuts, uncrustable peanut butter & jelly sandwiches, etc. From 5pm - 7pm, there is wine and beer available, cheese & crackers, vegetables & dip, along with 2 hot appetizers from one of the resort restaurants. These items usually change each night. From 8pm - 10pm, they have cordials out, along with trays of mini desserts and pastries.

That's very thoughtful to bring a gift. I would simply address it to the concierge staff and you can leave it with anyone at the concierge desk. I'm sure it will be very much appreciated.

In March we all got blue card keys and we were staying non-concierge. My wife's card key got demagnitized and when they gave her a new one in the lobby it was gold color.

Sorry to hijack the thread for a moment... but Tammi, what happens at the YC? Should I expect a card in advance, or do we check with bell services?

Thanks to the OP for posing such a great question!! Again, sorry I am off topic to a different resort! :goodvibes

They sent the elevator key ahead of time, so we could head up whenever we were ready and didn't have to wait for someone to escort us.

VERY cool. Do you remember how far ahead of time you got it in the mail?

I want to say it came about 3 months prior to our vacation. They sent a nice packet out with park maps, recreation guide and a newsletter for the resort.

Like I said before this is how Concierge check-in works for the Atrium Club and Tower Club of the Contemporary. When you arrive you tell the person working at the bell desk which floor your on, they will call up to say a family has arrived, the bellman who takes all the bags from your car will then take you and your bags up to the floor to check-in.

I am sure for guests coming on Magical Express once they get off they still tell the person at the bell desk to call up to the floor. Assuming they are having their bags sent to their room which they would get 3 hours later, I have no idea if a bellman puts their key in the elevator for them and leaves, or goes up with them to the floor itself.

I am sure every WDW Deluxe Resort with a Concierge building or floor is different, so that is how the process works at the Contemporary.
