After years of trying, I finally got a room on the 14th floor of the CR! There are only 16 rooms/suites on teh entire floor, and they were pretty full, although it was so quiet you'd never know it.
We arrived around 5:00pm, and were immediately taken upstairs to the 14th floor. Jim was taken to our room by the bellman while I stayed at the desk to check-in. Check-in was a breeze, and I was given confirmation of our PS for the CG.
I went to the room, 4911, right next to the lounge, and had a look around.
it was spacious although not as large as I had been led to believe it would be. It was smaller than the rooms we've had at the GF or Polynesian, although for the two of us it was more than comfortable.
It had a comfortable king bed, a table with two upholstered chairs, a dresser with ample drawer space. In the dresser we also found a minifridge stocked with several types of soda and juice (no charge). There was also a coffee maker with coffee and tea.
Th bathroom was in need of updating. It was clean and rust/mold free, but a bit dated. There was no tub, only a decent sized stall shower. The toilet and bidet were in a seperate room. There was not enough counter space in the sink area.
The lighted closet had ample hangers and a large floor safe.
The balcony was HUGE! Probably about ten feet deep by twenty feet wide.
We settled in--no real need to unpack as we were only planning on staying for one night. We took a walk to the lounge and Jim had a beer, I had a glass of wine, and we nibbled on some appetizers. We sat out on the balcony while we ate and enjoyed teh view of the MK. We had brought our binoculars, and were able to spot our house in the distance. If you are ever dining at the CG or staying in a higher floor at the CR, at night, look towards the MK, and just to the left of the castle, off in the distance will be a ridge of lights with one very bright light. That's actually a set of lights from the tennis court. You'll see orangey and white lights in the area around it. The row of white lights are the Publix across the street, and the almost diagonal/vertical orange lights are the street lights going up the hill into our development. The tallest building is the clubhouse, and just to the right of that, the pink blob (you'll need binoculars or a good zoom to see this) is our hosue!
But I digress.
Anyhow, we went to dinner at the CG, they do not dim the lights but they do still play the Wishes soundtrack, although not loudly. There was one really pushy dad who was upset because he had taken his kids to stand by the window in front of an empty table, and when they seated people at the table in the middle fo the fireworks he had to move. His daughter who was very overtired and should have been in bed burst into tears and was creating quite a scene, and he was very vocal about how "He had to move because these people took the table".
After dinner we went to our floor and stopped by the lounge to grab a bite of dessert and a glass of bottled water. They do not have plastic Dasani bottles.
It was an early night as Jim had to run the marathon the next morning.
The next morning I had a cup of tea in the lounge then went over to see Jim at the GF 12 miles mark. Then back to the lounge where I watched the runners go by while I had breakfast and more tea. I grabbed a couple things for Jim, including a glass of OJ which I know he likes to have after a race, and took them back to our room. Then went to the finish line to meet him.
A few comments.
The CL staff were wonderful. Friendly and very helpful. You do get to know them and they you because they have so few guests they are responsible for. I can see why people love to stay on the 14th floor, it does feel VERY exclusive.
The room was clean and comfortable. When we arrived there were no robes in the room, a call to the concierge desk was made and they tried to locate them for us. It did take a while, and when they were brought there were two different types. One waffle weave, one terry. Not a big deal, but it shouldn't have been over looked to begin with.
The welcome gift was a small jar of cashews. Ugh. (I'm highly allergic.) They came back home with us unopened, and my DH will eat them out on the lanai this week while I'm back in NJ.
The toiletries in the bathroom were ample, several bars of soap, shampoo, mouthwash, lotion, toothbrush and paste. Towels were also ample and fluffy.
I would have liked a lounger on the balcony, there was plenty of room for it.
The bathroom needed updating, it felt very institutional, and was not up to par with a high end resort room.
Turndown left two small choclate Mickey heads, very nice touch.
All in all it was very nice, but something I can't quite put my finger on was "lacking". It wasn't "whimsical" or "exotic" like so many other WDW resorts, felt more like a convention hotel, but was lacking the "plush" feeling of a Four Seasons for a similar price.
Would I go back, sure, I had absolutely no issues that were anything more than mild annoyances. But is it my favorite WDW CL? No, sorry, I'm still a PR/AKL fan.
Edited to add that I took a bunch of photo's of the room and lounge, and I'll hopefully post them within the next few days.
Also I was able to get a tour of one of the suites at the PR yesterday thanks to BambyT

Welcome back. We love the 14th, and spent a week here the summer before last, for DD's 16th! She loved it, and wants to return. Next time, I'll bring bino's and look for your home in the distance. I love the fact you could see your home (HOW COOL is THAT?!?). 
We were treated very well by the staff, and they recognized DD's BD celebration with a cake, balloons and a gift. We would return again, if only for the exclusivity, and view.
