Does anyone have any idea about WHY there seem to be so many SSR resales up for sale? :confused3 These people couldn't have owned for very long.

It makes my scared to purchase...what do THEY know that I don't? Why are they all selling?

Let me know if any of you know?..thanks!

My guess would be because SSR is the largest resort, there have probably been many more contracts sold so there will be more resales. If you were to look at it in percentage rather than actual quantity numbers it's probably not that high. Does that make sense?

Whenever a new resort is being sold, there are a certain number of people who have "buyers remorse" after getting swept up in the whole idea of DVC ownership. It's not that the program didn't meet their expectations, but that they might have made an emotional decision and later changed their mind.

I agree with KristiKelly in that it might appear to be more prevalent for SSR just due to the total number of new members. In actuality, I'd imagine that the percentage of SSR owners selling "quickly" is probably not much different than other DVC resorts when they were still selling.

I wish someone would explain DVC to me like am a 3/y. Every time I try to go on their DVC trip either they dont have the availability or a conflict on my schedule. :confused3

I owned a 300 point contract with a 100 pt add-on at SSR.
I have now sold the 100 point contract in order to purchase some points at another resort. For a prospective buyer I would advise: Do not buy a large contract, break it up into smaller ones ( I would prefer to own 2 @ 150 then 1 @ 300). It makes it easier to sell later on if you want or if you have 2 children, you can pass it on to them easier. Disney can split up a contract, but you can not. Consider where you will want to stay, because the 11 month window
(which Disney has the right to change) may be a factor. For example, if you always want the first week in December at VWL, you probably should own some points there. Don't count on your SSR points at the 7 month window for that. Many long term owners here own at multiple resorts and this is why. :thumbsup2

I'd fill you in but I am exhausted and need to head for bed soon..I leave for Disney in 10 hours  but you should contact disney and they will mail you out an info package, its pretty easy to understand.

There was a special deal for existing members to buy into SSR with at least a 120 point contract. They'd get free extra points for the first year or APs or something like that. I bet if you look, a lot of those for sale are 120 points. That's something that I noticed. They got the benefit, stripped the contract for three years and are now selling it.

IMO, there's nothing wrong with SSR or DVC (In case that's what you were worried about). I suspect people who bought in, on emotion, decided to sell when the reality set in.
