I was going to buy contacts from the place where I had my eyes checked. I had already bought glasses and was fitted for contacts.

Initially they had told me the new contacts were comparable in price to the brand I had been wearing. He told me they were a bit more initially, but there was a $50 rebate if you bought a years supply.

Imagine my surprise when I found out one box cost $44!!!! A year would be $352!!!! subtract $50 and it is still over $300!!!!

I was in shock! I decided to check online and see if they were any cheaper. Even a couple of dollars would be helpful.

Guess what! Online, they are only $27 a box, plus they still have the $50 rebate if you order them online!

That is quite a markup that eye place has! Guess where I ordered them from...

Can you pm me and let me know where you ordered from? I got the same quotes.

I've been ordering mine from 800contacts forever. Every year when I have my exam, the dr's office always wants me to order from them. When I tell them the price I pay, they sometimes match the price. When they don't, I go back to 800Contacts. I've never had a bad experience with ordering from them. :thumbsup2

I've used Coastal Contacts in the past an experienced good prices and reliable service.

I had a similar experience with the price of contacts at my Dr.s office. Needless to say I buy from Vision Direct (who BTW always sends us discount codes which are nice). Ocassionally DH and I buy from the Dr.s office if the price is good AND they have ours instock.

BTW coupon code for saving 15% at Vision Direct until June 30th
SUMMERFUN15 also look for rebates.

Is it true that if you wear contacts on a regular basis, your eyesight will get worse? I am nearsighted (can't see far) and have glasses for that but I'd rather contacts so I don't have to bring my glasses all over if I'm going to need them.

Hi- Can you also PM me and let me know where you bought them from, too? Thanks! :)

I buy mine from www.eyeexcel.com (which always has free shipping) I checked on the site you provided & they are $2.00 more a box. Just thought you might want to try a few sites...

I've never heard that.

I started wearing contacts 25 years ago. My nearsightedness progressed far more between the ages of 10 and 24 than it did between 25 and 49.

Try contacts, it's not that big of an investment ($ or time) and you can always switch back.

Do you change your lenses every two weeks? I'm supposed to, but I wear them for at least a month or two and don't have any problems (I take them out at night.) My Dr is also more expensive (up to $50 a box). But I also have astigmatism in my left eye that requires a toric lens, which are more expensive, and now they want me on the "more oxygen" type for both eyes, which they quote me at $50 per box of six. I haven't had time to check online yet.

But I am excited about my Golf Specific Nike lenses to wear while playing golf! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the input! I've been debating this for months and I think I'm going to switch to contacts as I've noticed my eyesight has gotten worse.
