I went to apply as I do try almost every week and I noticed that the "I want to become a CL" is gone??? Is this old news? Also I thought I should share this e-mail I recieved a few weeks back before the option was gone.

Thank you for your interest in the VMK Community Leader program.

At this time we are not able to add any more Leaders to the team. This
does not mean you are not qualified or wanted. It means that right now
the team is full, and we don't want to keep you waiting any longer for
a reply.

We will announce any changes to the Community Leader program in the
Newsletter at www.vmk.com.

Regards,

Are CL's going away? or are they just turning it off until they want help again?

aww i usually send in my application when i have a chance...i hope we will be able to become one in the future...

I was actually thinking of applying for the first time this week. I'm sorry they took this option off.

What??!! That is an outrage! Well hopefull we will be able to apply soon. It's been a year since they stopped accepting.

It is my understanding that the Community Leader program is going through a major revamping in the near future. I would bet that this is related to that.

And no, I don't know what is being revamped. I only know that they are changing it a lot.

Well, personally I think this is a very good thing. Look at it this way:

We spend over a year waiting to be community leaders. They don't need any, so they stop. I personally waited 3 whole months just for them to tell if my application was accepted or denied. I was denied, after these 3 months, the same day my friend was accepted.

We have all been frustrated by this, and now we don't have to live through a constant urge to show off our new badge of a magic mickey hat.

:cool2: if they take you must have no bans rule off that will be the best vmk day for me.

Please Yavn if your reading.

Please Take That Rule Off

And where would the world of VMK be then?! :scared1: :scared1:

Yes I was banned for a month for a friend of mine getting on my account and fooling around. I think it is fair that I was banned and lost the privelege of ever becoming a CL because I should have known better than to go against the VMK Values and allow him to go on. I think the rule should stay :goodvibes

I think the no ban rule would be neat because for one people make mistakes and personally my ban was not fair it was I was copying a staff when I wasn't then I got another month ban for saying

"Blast ray at person"

They said that was adult behavior and my friend got banned for the same thing and all I was doing was making a play geez and people don't get banned for kicking? And I have seen worse in animated disney movies such as buzz lightyear what have you gone to vmk.

I do think the "no ban" rule has its flaws. For example, what about the people who have been banned for no apparent reason...and all their attempts to contact VMK have gone unanswered? I know several people here who have experienced that. I do think the "no ban" rule is valuable, but that bans should be looked into before just automatically turning down a CL application just because there is a ban.

Don't agree with either of you but we all have our own opinions. :)

Not trying to argue, but do you think then that it's fair for someone's CL application to be turned down because the ban was the fault of VMK and not the player? I'm not talking about your situation where you let someone use your account, and hence you suffered the consequences of it. I'm talking about situations in which people have experienced bans when they did nothing wrong.
i.e. someone got an IP ban and someone else with the exact same IP wound up being banned as well and the only reason why they were banned was because they happened to have the same IP as someone who actually did something wrong. It does happen and not just on VMK, but any site that bans by IP. On a non-Disney related message board I run, I had a spammer who was notorious for changing his user name, so I finally banned him by IP rather than by user name. Unfortunately, that wound up also banning a moderator of mine, who happens to be a personal friend I know in real life. But they were not one and the same. I'm saying all this to show that bans are not always what they seem, they're not always the fault of the player. Just thought I'd throw out some perspective there. :)

Oh, FrontierNatasha is in this thread...

Personally, I think the CL program has its flaws: it's more about being popular than helping people out.

In my opinion, there should be folks that do what CL's are supposed to do, but they are adult/teenage volunteers that work for the Disney Corporation. Not random players...

However, in my experience, those that are CL's are worthy of the title. Helpful folk...

However, they'd do this if they didn't have the title. That's just the kind of people these folks are.

I have a question. DD deeply desires to be a CL. She applied a couple of months ago, but she never received any word back. I know Dara said VMK was revamping the system, but would she still get a response one way or the other? Is it usual to receive no response?

i dont think its an outrage...maybe they just dont want as many CL's, cut em' some slack. and besides, not everyone will be a leader.

If she received absolutely no response from VMK, then there is a problem with VMK's e-mail and her or your e-mail. I know for a fact that VMK's e-mail does not work with comcast.net, but they have never put it on the website.

If she received an acknowledgement that says, "Thanks for applying to our Community Leader program. We are not taking any applications....blah, blah, blah" then you know they received it.

I've worked with QA_caffdawg on this problem for comcast.net, but I've never heard back on any progress with fixing it. Having said all this, I have a Yahoo account just to communicate with VMK.

I apply all the time, and have a cox e mail address and I have never gotten a response

Then there is a problem with Cox, too. With my Yahoo account, I get responses to anything I've sent in, including the infamous black hole.

If you have never, ever received a response from applying as a CL, I can promise you that the problem is between VMK's e-mail application and your e-mail provider. Get a Yahoo, gmail, or some other free account just for communicating with VMK and I bet you start getting responses. If nothing else, just write in that "this is a test of my new yahoo account".

Huh? Am I unwanted?
