Yes and along with that it was did by Tom staggs that toy story would open prior to Star Wars.

I have a feeling this won't be till very late in the year - ie December

So maybe looking to open fully in 2020/21? Hopefully they won't do like New Fantasyland and open the E ticket ride last!

Don't hold your breath because the ancient pyramids were constructed much more quickly than it takes Disney to add a new land to a theme park!

Star Wars will likely be a phased opening itself part opening in 2019 and the rest in 2020. Phase 3 is 2021.

Really? Is that the level of exaggeration we've reached now? Yes, Disney are deliberately slow in their building of attractions and yes it's obvious cost is the driving factor.

But the Great Pyramid took 20 maybe 30 years to build and likely involved thousands of paid laborers perhaps as many as 10,000. Disney takes 3-4 years to actually build their lands, and generally a year or two more in the planning. They announce early which makes it look even worse. Universal are a bit faster, but not as much as people think because they announce much later.

Right now we're looking at (best guesses) Toy Story no later than 2018 (so 2-3 years) and Star Wars no probably by 2019 or early 2020 but not starting construction until 2016 so 3-4 years. Complain about it for what it is.

Oh no I understand sarcasm. I also know the difference between that and pointless snark.
Sarcasm makes a point. Chastising someone for sarcasm seems more like snark. I say that as someone who uses sarcasm so I might be biased. :)

That aside, Disney is notorious for being slow. It will take a while more than likely so I think that it is wise to just assume so and plan accordingly.

Great to hear they'll be making ground then. Can only assume the concept art shown was pretty final then if they are not far from building? You can guarantee that this land will be built at Pandora pace, so will still have Toy Story finished before it and open in 2020/2021

Actually looking at 2019/2020

You're certainly a 'glass half full' kinda guy aren't you?

Be nice to see it open ASAP, but i just feel this is going to be an uber slow construction

Well keep in mind Avatar didn't break ground until early 2014. It's going to open likely in early 2017 at just over three years. Cars Land started in mid 2009, and opened in mid 2012 at around three years.

He's no "half glass full" type of guy, he's just looking at the patterns that Disney seems to be following.

There wasn't a point being made. If I'm being really generous there was the bloody corpse of a horse being beaten one more time. Might as well announce the sun will rise tomorrow. It was cheap snark that added nothing.

It's undeniable that Disney builds at a quite slow pace, but it's also true that Avatar was a very peculiar case since
1) Everyone says James Cameron can be a really difficult person to work with creatively speaking
2) Avatar, unlike Star Wars, does not belong to Disney, which can be a little tricky to work out
3) DHS is in a difficult situation right now and cannot afford to stay like that for too long before people start going somewhere else

You know for a fact that the other poster wasn't trying to make a point? That's impressive.

Anyway, I see this type of comment often. I've seen people say that they hoped they'd still be around to see changes or that their kids would still be children and so on. This all makes the point that Disney is often quite slow even if some of it is over the top. THAT is the problem not someone who might exaggerate.

Indeed...

Cameron is also a perfectionist that's willing to spend his own money...

And I'm 99.9995% sure there's money involved here...

Or are we still believeing the bubka that Disney "really wanted avatar" and was paying full price for it?

I don't have a problem believing that. A $2.7 billion box office can be very enticing to executives.
