Constance invited to "fake prom"

Reading about the RI case, I thought it was interesting that the principal's main argument was that he was acting out of concern for the physical safety of the gay students. But the principal in MS didn't even pretend to be anything but bigoted. I'm not sure which one is worse...hiding your homophobia in disingenuous concern or being up front.

I remember when this was going on 30 years ago, and thinking the only people they're protecting are the people threatening harm. That's like saying since women are more likely to experience an assault if they're out alone at 3 AM, let's not let women out at 3 AM. Instead, they should be protecting rights (a woman's right to be out at 3 AM, a student's right to take the person of their choice to the prom), and if there are threats, take action against the ones doing the threatening, provide deterrents to assaults (cops/security), and then prosecute anyone who breaks the law. You don't take away people's rights in the name of protecting them from physical harm.

It's sad and pathetic. And done in the name of good morals. So good morals means you can be exclusionary of those that are different than you. Hey we don't need to invite the developmentally disabled kids either. but you know what, Constance is going on to college to do great things, and it will be interesting to see where she is in 10 years compared to her classmates.

The sad thing these kids will now teacher their children that it's okay to "bully" those "beneath" you.

Hi everyone!
I don't usually post here but I saw the title and had to share a link that a very dear friend sent to me. I agree that this was just appalling and those who think they did the right thing will have karma rear its head at them. Hopefully it does a full turn and bites them on the tooka's.:rolleyes1

Human Rights Campaign petition - if you would like to express your feelings regarding this:

What a way to teach your kids - Epic failure on their part!

thanks Tweevil singed up and sent it out to some friends

Just watched the Ellen video. That young Lady will go far.

:scared:oops you poor little ignorant fools(schoolboard) you just gave her $30,000 out of your hatred :rotfl::rotfl::banana::banana: Now who looks stupid:lmao:

Morals, eh? Keep 'em. I'll stick with ethics.

So, it's immoral to allow a same gendered couple to attend the prom, yet ok to allow the opposite gendered couples to attend (would that be pre or post sexual intercourse)?

See how stereotypes infuriate?
