Considering DVC

Hi all!

My husband and I just started talking about going to a presentation for DVC during our trip in June. We contemplated it during our honeymoon in 1999 and kicked ourselves for not joining in then. After that, the kids started coming along and our family was just focused on survival for awhile ;). Anyway, my husband and I know we are "Disney People" and the thought of going to Disney every two years for the rest of our lives thrills us. We are VERY newly thinking about DVC seriously again and have JUST started researching it, so forgive me if these questions seem obvious.

1. My dh SWEARS he read that they did away with the general expiration of the resorts and that everyone is given 50 years from when they sign up. I can't find anything that supports that unless the literature I'm reading is old. Does each resort have an expiration still? Or does it go by the individual purchasing?

2. When we went back in 1999, we were told that our current trip package (hotel portion only, I believe) could be applied to the purchase of DVC. Does anyone know if this is still true? Maybe we were naive youngsters. :)

Thanks in advance for your help!

Contracts do expire. Blt is 2060, Akv is 2057, Ssr is 2054, some OKW expire 2057 (including those that buy it direct) and Bwv, Bcv, and Vwl are 2042. They used to allow the cost of your stay to be part of the deal but not any longer. Good luck!
