We are going to Disney in August and staying in a 2 BR villa at BLT through the current 4/3 promotion. We are seriously considering buying DVC while there. I have a couple of questions.

1. How do you find out where to attend a seminar/presentation RE: DVC purchase while in Disney? Do you receive incentives just for attending?

2. Can you set up a tour of other facilities? For example, we would also like to see units at Saratoga Springs and Beach Club Villas. Can we still see units at BCV even though it's considered sold out? We obviously would be buying resale if we decide on BCV.

3. Does anyone know when the 2010 points allocation will be released? I've seen it for BLT but not for the other resorts. I would want some idea of the point allocation before we purchase.

4. We would be traveling either the last week of March or the 2nd week of June. Would a February or December UY be best for us?

I've tried to do a lot of research but this still seems overwhelming.

the presentations are at SSR. they will provide transportation from a park or BLT to the DVC sales area at SSR if you call and set it up.

incentives? you can expect to get some ice cream for attending. some people have also gotten fast passes or small gift cards ($10-15) for their time.

not a "tour" per se, but you can ask the front desk at the resort if they have a room available and time to show you one. i went to OKW and asked at the lobby when things were quiet and they showed me an empty room...

IMO, you get pretty much the same information from looking at room pictures on the internet but if they have time to help you, the CMs have been pretty good about it in the past.

feb would be slightly better as long as you never travel in nov-dec-jan. december would be fine also. a march UY might be best...

1. It is hard to blink at WDW without seeing a DVC stand in the parks or in the hotels (your TV will even have a channel devoted to it). You can check with any of them and set up a tour. There are no prescribed perks for attending a tour, but at times, they give such things as some fastpasses.

2. Tours are currently at SSR for resorts currently being sold: BLT and AKV, and I assume to a limited extent for Treehouse Villas now (it is really hard to put a model of those in the regular SSR buildings). They take you through, at SSR, models for the rooms at the resorts. They don't really do tours of the resorts themselves or rooms of resorts that are generally sold out (they still can sell sold out resorts because they regain points through right of first refusal or foreclosures).

3. Here are comparison charts showing both 2009 and 2010 points (in 2010 points are being reallocated mainly to make weekends lower and weekdays higher): http://gallery.me.com/drowells#100081

4, Use year is irrelevant to when you can go but because of the possible issue of having to cancel and then being able to bank your points, many recommend a use year that begins not too much before you usually go. Your best for times you mention would be Dec, Feb or March (March is fine because points come March 1 before any March trip).

I would go to theirs they seam to have the best incentives ......:woohoo:

In 2004, BWV had a model set up you could look at. It had an entrance off the boardwalk.

I didn't check to see if it was still there when we stayed there in Oct of 2008. They may have closed it.

It was still there when we were there in November '08... the entrance was right out on the boardwalk, down nearest the Jellyrolls end of the building.

This is referring to the Doorway to Dreams DVC sales location in the Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, Illinois. They will give you lots and lots of information. They also have a full 2 bedroom BLT room set up there. If you can get there, I'd visit and learn a lot. The one problem with it is it will probably start you down a path you won't be able to turn around...of course, it sounds like you've already started.

I would suggest going on the tour very early in your trip. If they are still offering DP's you could stay the rest of your trip with them. I've read a post of someone who is still being offered them, not sure if they still are but worth a shot. Also, if Disney has Beach Club points for sale (bought through ROFR) you can buy them while you're there as well as any other resorts they have in their inventory, ask your guide! Best of luck on your decision.

You can still get developer points if you do not want the cruise option for buying. I am in the process of adding on at BLT and chose those instead. YOu just have to ask. And, someone said you don't need to have a referral for those, only the cruise.

The BWV model was still open in Oct. 2008.

I was there on Wednesday, and "yes" it is still there.
