Considering Cancelling Cabana

Looking at the weather it might be chilly on the Castaway Cay day. I have a cabana booked, but I want to wait as long as possible because who knows about the weather in a week. Some sites say 73 some say 78 but a couple say 66. I don't want to spend that much money to be huddled in the cabana wrapped in a towel.

Does anyone know how late we can cancel? I think 3 days prior to departure is the official answer to be guaranteed a refund. Has anyone seen anything else? I thought I read somewhere that you could cancel the night before and if it got rented then you didn't owe money. There is also a clause about weather not supporting port adventures. Does that apply to "chilly" weather on Castaway Cay.

TIA

Yep - cancellations must be no later than 3 days before the start of your cruise for no penalty. You might be able to cancel once onboard, and, if there is a wait list, and DCL can "resell" your reservation, you won't be charged.

Typically "chilly" is not a refundable cancellation. "Weather not supporting port adventures" generally applies to the parasailing in windy/stormy weather.

If you cancel, print out a copy of the website page showing that you canceled and bring it with you on board just in case there is a problem. I canceled a cabana over a week before my cruise, during the cruise I received wristbands for the cabana and they had no record of my cancellation. Some kind of glitch on the website I guess. I actually canceled 2 (b2b cruises). The first cruise canceled with no problem, second was the issue.

Before you cancel, you might want to check if anyone in the meet group wants one. You can then coordinate to cancel at a set time to give them the best chance of getting it. Just a nice thing to do if you feel like it :)

We had a cabana on chilly day a couple of years ago. It was a bright sunny day but cool, I have to say with the sun out it wasn't too bad at all.
We still enjoyed ourselves and enjoyed the cabana.
For me personally, I would only cancel if it looks like its going to be cloudy and rainy.

The temps. can change so quickly in the Bahamas, I would watch till the very last second.

Have a wonderful time!!!!

That is what I was thinking. I figured it might be a great just to keep it. I thought we would be more inclined to take advantage of the bikes. Thanks for your advice. I was hoping someone would talk about their experience.

I'm a wimpy South Florida girl too, thin blood and I thought it was a perfect day. The sand was the coldest thing on my feet, LOL

We cruise next Monday 2/15 and I was thinking about cancelling also. I will make my decision later this week. I agree, hate to spend all that money and it being chilly and not enjoy it anyway.

It is a painful thought because I have been so excited about the cabana for the last few months, but I just think that my kids (6,3, 10 months) might not last. They can probably have as much fun on CC for a couple hours then come back to the warm boat.

So glad we did not cancel.... it was a beautiful day. water was a bit chilly but we got used to it. We were in cabaña 25 on Serenity Bay with Akim from the Dream as our cabaña host. He was wonderful. We truly felt like we were on a deserted island. It was heavenly.
