Conservation Station - worth the ride?

I'm wondering if Conservation Station at AK is worthwhile visiting, especially for a 10 YO.

While I've been to AK, I've never been to CS.

Any advice?

I would say it's worth it if

1) You're child likes animals or petting zoos.
2) Your child like trains
3) Your child likes characters (this is one of the only places to find Pocahontas or Playhouse Disney's Stanley)
4) You need some Air Conditioning (most of AK is outside so it can be a nice place to go in the afternoon when it's hot).

On our last trip, Rafiki's Planet Watch (AKA Conservation Station) was a favorite of both my kids, then 6yrs and 9yrs. My 9 yr old loved the interactive screens, and both enjoyed the indoor exhibits. They also had a blast brushing the goats in the petting area--and listed that as one of the highlights of the trip! Go figure... We could brush goats at the farm down the road! Anyway, I agree with Meeko's list...if those things apply, your 10 yr old should enjoy it.

I would try this at least once. If everyone likes it - then do it the next time. I, myself, enjoyed the relaxing train ride. The walk to Conservation Station is pretty and scenic. The station itself is educational, you can see the veternarians working in the labs, etc., and the petting zoo is well, just a petting zoo. It's worth a look.

I agree with the list of questions. We enjoy watching the vets and learning something new.

We will definately use what DD learns on this trip in her journal for school.

We (Me, DW, and DD 8) all like it over there. The train ride is relaxing and you get to see where the animals stay at nite. Once there, there is a wonderful huge mural of every imaginable animal. Take some time to find the hidden Mickeys in the mural.

The Grandma Willow sound booths are a lot of fun. Seeing the medical area where they care for the animals is very interesting. You can usually catch a live small animal show while you're there as well.

One word of advice. There are no restaurants over there, so eat before you head that way.

We loved the conservation station -- and I'm not talking about kids, but my hustand and myself! My dh got some great pix of me petting the animals (I'm a HUGE animal lover) and the park's CM vets were doing some surgery on a turtle, and you can watch through a big plate glass window. There's a Pocahontas-themed sound system in the trees that is really neat, and a woman was walking around with a chinchilla.

Well worth the trip, especially to avoid the crowds. We were pleasantly surprised!

I love to sit in the Songs of the Rainforest booth (Grandmother Willow). It is so relaxing, and after a hectic morning it's a great break. You can watch them do surgery on some of the animals and talk to the vets.

It is worthwhile. I enjoyed it but I have also taken the back stage tour where you see more of what goes on at AK.

We've never gotten off. The kids like it for the train ride, and since AK requires a ton of walking, I like it to take a load off my feet, and close my eyes for a minute or two.

You should always look for the things Disney gives us to slow down the pace. This is one of them.

I think you should check it out. We went once, which was sufficient for us, but it was interesting.
