Connect Magic Bands to separate form of payment for kids?

Hi, we leave tomorrow for Disney and we'vd had several aunts, uncles, and grandparents give gift cards to our kids for Disney. Both kids have asked if I can connect their magic bands to those gift cards for them to carry their money around with them to spend via magic band. Is this possible?

Can Magic Bands be connected to a form of payment other than a room charge? If so, how do I set that up?

I would guess this was possible somehow so that AP holders, especially Florida residents, could use the MB to pay for things without a reservation.

PS. the kids are not old enough to have their own MyDisneyExperience accounts so if that's required it poses a problem for me.

I would think that too, but no. You cannot charge with your MB unless you have a resort stay and charging privileges associated with the profile attached to the MB.

Maybe give them Disney gift cards to make their purchases? It's an extra thing to carry but it would give them some independence. If you want to cap their daily spending, you can purchase the gift cards in small denominations and give them one each day.

You can also let kids charge back to room. Each gst has a number (single digit) associated to MB.
Easy for FD to see amount kids have charged.
Go to FD every few days to apply their GC.

Either they pay with the gift cards, or they charge back to the room. You can have the front desk print out the bill every night and teach the kids to reconcile their charges. That's probably a good way to teach responsibility and money management as long as they're disciplined enough to not go crazy at the shops.

MB to your card then have them put receipts together (or snap a pic) and reconcile until their share of balance is depleted.

Actually, for adults, we do it all the time. We go to the front desk of the hotel, they scan their MagicBand and tie it to their individual credit card. And we are all in the same room. My MB charges go to my credit card, their MB charges go to their credit card. Easy peasy.

It may be that not all CMs know how to do this? However MBs, AFAIK, can not be tied to gift cards, it must be a credit or debit card. And I don't recommend a debit card as it may put holds on funds, so I'd use a Credit Card with a relatively high limit.

One thing I do is buy the gift cards that can be kept on my wrist It makes it so easy for me to do that Maybe that will work.

I’d assign a different PIN to each child and let them charge to their MBs. Each child’s charges can be reconciled as often as you like, and you can take them down so they can pay off at the front desk using their GCs. Otherwise, they can pay with their GCs at the point of sale.
