So I was lucky enough to get an 8:10PM reservation on our night of arrival for Ohana. We also have a reservation for 7:40PM at Shutter's at Old Port Royale. I'm trying to decide which one we should keep since we arrive at about 5pm. I know Ohana is obviously better but eating at Shutter's is easier since we are staying at CBR. What do we do? Also, at Ohana do they just bring out all the different food to eat family style or do you order what you want from the menu? I'm confused

Start your vacation off right, eat at 'Ohana. It was the best meal we had at Disney. We would probably eat there every night of our stay.

Mmmm bread pudding

Plus after you have stuffed yourself you can do down to Captain Cook's and get a Dole Whip. There's always room left for ice cream.

At 'Ohana they serve the appitizers and side dishes family style (one big plate for everyone). The meats are brought out on long skewers where they give each person as much or little as they want. Those with the skewers are always walking around the restaurant so you can just flag them down to give you more.

I would tell you to go to Shutters that night. It is not uncommon to wait long times after your ADR time at 'Ohana. There is a chance that with an 8:10 ADR you may not get seated until almost 9. If you are driving down, I am sure the last thing you will want to do is do more traveling that day, so the convenience of Shutters works out best. If you are flying and landing at about 5, you may not make it to the Poly by 8:10, especially if your flight is delayed at all. Also, 'Ohana has an atmosphere that you may not want to deal with right after traveling all day (it is pretty loud inside and the Emcee lady can be very loud and annoying). :thumbsup2

And, on a personal note, we really dislike 'Ohana (the food is pretty lousy, the atmosphere is not to our liking and the service has been beyond awful).

Ohana is definite keeper. You could also watch Wishes (if one) after dinner at Poly beach.

I would keep 'OHana, we like it very much.
Please decide and the cancel the ADR you will not use. Some other family has been denied the opportunity because you are double booked.

Just so you are aware there are reports of people having both their ressies cancelled when they are this close together.
The CMs that go thru the bookings are allowed to cancel what they think is a "double" booking.

Now not saying it will happen, but the sooner you decide the less chance you have of it happening.

As for choice....Ohana....no question.

We love 'Ohana but I agree that it may be easier and more relaxing for you to stick with Shutters. Yes, 'Ohana can have crazy long waits so probably not what you want on a travel day. I have never eaten at Shutters so I cannot comment on the food but it seems like it would be the easiest thing for you so you are ready to hit the Parks running the next day. Maybe try to get 'Ohana for later in the trip!

Thanks for all your input! I cancelled the reservation at Ohana so we can have a more relaxed dinner at Shutter's and we will go to Ohana for another night.

We ate at Shutter's in '09 (we were staying at CBR, too). It definitely wasn't the best meal we've had at Disney. Pretty much the same thing we can get at a regular steakhouse at home...just way more expensive. Hope yours is better than ours was!
