Okay - I've been reading and trying to do my "homework" but I'm still a little confused. We have a package through DV - now I'm seeing stuff that talks about room only. I'm feeling as though I'm paying too much now and I don't know what to do....here is a breakdown.

7 people - 3 adults and 4 kids
2 BR villa at OKW
Dining Plan
Air with AA - perfect times for us - direct flights
6 Day park hopper

$9000 is my total. It's just so much money...is it a fair price? I've been trying to figure it all out and I'm just getting overwhelmed and want to just back away....help please. Feedback?:(

Let's see... I don't know what DV is... but anyway, where are you flying from? 7 plane tix at $300 each at least I would guess?
DDP is about $150 per day for 7 x how many days?
How many nights in the villa? Cash or are you renting points?
Tickets for us (2A, 2C, 4 day hoppers) were about $1000... you can price this out on the website.

I don't know if you are getting a deal or not, not sure how many days and where you are flying from?

But a week vacation w/ travel for 7 including food and tix, it doesn't seem unreasonable to me.... I think our 5 day trip (SSR 1 bed, rented points) was about $3500ish, no plane tickets.

Hmmmm, have to do a little guesswork here:

Rack rate at OKW in november (I think that is when your trip falls) is $630/night. Guessing again that you are going for 5 nights so 3150 for lodging plus appx. 12% tax makes 3550 for lodging.

We really need dates of your vacation and ages of your party to truly tell if you are over paying.

Would love to help, I know all of the options an be overwhelming, but we could probably find ways to save you some $$$$.

I have use agencies in the past and have had packages but since coming here, I have discovered the benefits of patience and booking items separately. Even if you are paying a little bit over it seems you are getting a lot of services for the amount.

I'm sorry I didn't post my dates! November 4 - 10. DV is Disney Vacations.

Okay - so if I book separately as mentioned, do I still go through Disney? I have never really traveled much so I don't have a TA. I called one from another thread and she hasn't called me back. :(

Wow!!! Thats a lot of money to me! I guess maybe my budget for 3200.00 isnt really that bad for everything for my 9 day stay during free dining in September for a family of 4. But with gas going up, may have to add a little more for that.

$9000 sounds really high to me too! I would price it out yourself to see if its worth keeping your current package.

Compared to Sept. I expect it to cost more so I guess I'm trying to find out if for November it's a good price or not....free dining would obviously help but it's not available in Nov. Also, I have to add I can't go except during Nov. I'm trying now to price each item out to see where I can save. Again, any specific suggestions would be appreciated.

Why dont you try pricing it out on disney's website, you can see how it breaks down there to see if you think what your paying is fair. We have never paid that much for a disney vacation, but we drive and dont deal with air fare. Room only rates are also through disney, when you call disney reservations just ask for room only. You can not add disney dining to a room only reservation so you need to decide if you need dining. By the way, your at the right place, these boards have been so helpful to me there are some real experts here.

Thanks! We love the dining plan so I would need that. You actually answered one of my questions with your post MS Mouse! It might end up that a code is what will save me...that or a great deal through a TA. I'm sure there are ones that have "blocks" of rooms with great deals it's just finding them. Keep any other suggestions coming please! Thanks!

I have a family of 5 and here is our breakdown:

7 nights with 2 rooms at a value, dining included, 6 day regular tickets (no hoppers) $2600. Driving is what we chose to do 1000 miles at 25 mpg is 40 gallons times 4 dollars a gallon is 160 dollars each way with a little extra for driving around for $350 (which is what 1 plane ticket would cost). Tips 175 dollars. Meals and 1 night hotel for trip there and back $200. Souveneirs $125. So I have a grand total of $3, 450 which seems like a lot of money and definitely the most expensive trip we have ever taken as a family. It works out to a little under 100 dollars a day per person. WOW. For you the cost is 1285 a person. I wasn't sure how many nights that was. If it is 5 nights that is 157 a person, 6 nights 214, 7 nights 183. Some of yours are kids. My 100 dollars a night per person(which I still think sounds high) is for 4 adults and 1 kid. So yours seems pretty expensive.

I would see how much each item is separately, then compare. You can try Undercover Tourist to price the Parkhopper passes. Also, if you subscribe to mousesavers.com's monthly newsletter, you can save even more. The newsletter comes out on the 15th of each month.

Next, if you belong to AAA, I would see what the room only rate is. (You don't have to book through AAA, the WDW CRO should be able to apply the discount). Also, remember to ask if there are any "pins" or "codes" attached to your name (and anyone else in your traveling party).

Lastly, you may want to tally up the cost of the meal plan to see if it will be cost effective. Some really love the meal plan, but I've also seen posters say that they felt it was way too much food.

Good luck
