Confused on DVC banking - can you clear up?

Believe me, I have done a bunch of searches but interpreted (correctly or incorrectly) different things - can you help?
I am considering buying into DVC resale- - let's say for 50 points with a June use year. The 2005 points have been banked. CAN YOU USE THESE WITHIN THE 2005 USE YEAR EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE BANKED?
In other words, if I want to plan a MAY 2006 vacation, can I use the 50 banked 2005 and then borrow from the next June 2006 allotment? For some reason, I keep thinking once I am banked, I cannot use them for that same year???!!?? Thanks so much!

Yes, once you have banked your points for a use year you cannot use them for a reservation during that use year.

Umm... no.. you can't use the banked points until June 1, 2006. However, you could borrow from your 2006 allocation of points (not the same as the '05 points that were banked). I'll use your 50 pt example:

On June 1, 2006 you would have 100 points available. If you borrowed 50 points it would come from your '06 allocation. Those 50 points would expire on May 31, 2005 and can not be banked (you can not return them to the 06 year after borrowing). The 50 points that would come available on June 1, 2006 would be the banked points. You can not bank those points again so they would expire on May 31, 2007.

If those 2005 points are banked, you couldn't borrow 100 points from June 1, 2006 for a trip in May 2006.

As mentioned you could not use the banked points until June 1, 2006, but you could make a reservation using up to 150 points for any date bewteen 6/1/06 and 5/31/07 by using the 50 banked (2005) points, 50 (2006) points and borrow 50 from '07. If the 50 points have already been banked you would have access to only 50 points (by borrowing from 06) for use prior to June 1, 2006.

You could consider having points transferred into your account for use before 6/1/06.
