Leaving in 5 days...woohoo!!...and NOW I've decided to make our own autograph books ...so much to do, so little time... :cloud9:
Anyway, I loved the idea of the picture on one side and the autograph on the other. I found some great FOAMIES princess photo albums at Walmart , and they hold one 4 x 6 picture per page. Now....my question is...obviously I need to either put an index card or a piece of paper on one side, and take it out for the autograph, and this is the part I'm kind of clueless. First : can the characters sign such a small piece of paper (4x6) with those fat fingers, without having them on a book ;) (right now I'm thinking of characters such as Mickey, Pluto, not the face characters of course). In other words, do you guys just take out your single piece of paper and give it to them? can they handle it without having some kind of hard surface behind it, like an autograph book or a clip board? Do you put your index card/paper on the photo slot at home, and then take them out one by one as you encounter the matching character, or do you just bring a bunch of paper and then put it all together when you're at home mourning your late vacation? Have in mind that we don't have the photos yet, so the slot next to each index card will be empty...
I know I'm probably worrying too much about little stuff...but hey, I rather worry now, and then use my HAKUNA MATATA motto on our trip.
TIA!

I made my own and it worked fine, it was a scrapbook from Michael's and I just cut out more paper and added it. I think you will be very happy with what you have. The Characters always have a CM with them so the CM might hold the book while "Mickey" or "Pluto" signs it. Was saw this many times. With the size of many characters they need a little helper, so don't worry.

Good Luck!

That sounds cute - we have only used the WDW autograph books but I am looking for something different next time.

If it were me and I understood your explanation correctly I might leave the book at home and just bring blank index cards. You should see the condition of our autograph books after spills at character meals and rainstorms! Of course my dd's still love them. Each morning you could pack a zip lock with a bunch of blank cards, a piece of cardboard and a fat pen, all set.

When you get home it will be fun to match up the pictures with the autographs and put them in the book.

I did mine on index cards as well.

I wound up punching a hole in the corner and tieing a string through to make a loop. That way they were all together and I could easily flip to a blank index card. When I got back I put sticker stars on each corner of the index card to cover up the hole

It was fine for the characters to hold.

I bought a spiral bound book of neon colored index cards. They were perforated, though I did have to use a scissors on several to include the entire autograph. This worked well for us, provided a hard surface for the characters. I just had to make sure they signed the unlined side. Another bonus with this was that DD5 spent her time waiting in the char lines choosing which color of card was most perfect for that autograph. We got a huge kick out of how seriously she took that decision.
