YC, BC, GF, POFQ, WL, AKL, POP, ASM, ASMU, ASSports, CR, CBR, CSR, OKW, SSR, POR, BW, BWI, SWAN, DOLPHIN, ahhhhhh! :faint: So Many Choices! Too many! :scared:  So overwhelming. Well, of course I have narrowed them down- POFQ, WL, AKL, BW, and CR! :badpc: Which one? Our family is 50, 47, 13, and 8. Which resort out of the ones that are listed above would you take? We will split between 2 resorts. Thanks, I just needed to ask, and see your opinions! :wizard: How do you guys choose? *lol* Okay, so I exsadurated a little in the top, but hey, we all do it! :D
Thanks,
Yacht Club Guy....
PS- The YC is not a option, we do not like it. Don't ask!

First choice for you guys would be CR. I think your kids would LOVE the arcade there. The view from the tower rooms are fabulous...ask for Magic Kingdom view! You can rent boats right on the lake. Walk to the Magic Kingdom. On the Monorail. Chef Mickey's is so much fun! We love it!

Second choice would be WL. So nice and cozy adn warm. We've never had a bad visit there. Whispering Canyon Restaurant is a hoot! Bunk beds available. We drive, so transportation is an unknown to me, although my kids loved the boat ride to MK. It's just a realy cool resort.

Just my opnion!
(AKL is fun, too....have found the CM's there less friendly than other resorts, but those CM's could be gone by now!)

Another vote for CR/ WL. Can't beat the Magic Kingdom location!

I would always lean towards WL but it really depends on your taste for theming I think CR would be bigger and give you more room if that is what you want but for the price I think WL is a good deluxe.

Buzz 2001- Great site! I am a liker of CSR, but my family is not... Oh well! Sounds like the BW is out of the picture. :guilty: Of course, we are not booking soon, so we'll have lots of time to think of it! :cool1: :wizard: Anymore? Thanks to those who responded!

We typically go twice a year -- the week after Thanksgiving and the end of February for Dodger Spring Training. In Nov/Dec we stay at the POFQ for three nights and then move to AKL. We love both resorts. The POFQ is great in regards to its size. It is much smaller than the other mods. There isn't a bad location anywhere. And, it has just been completely rennovated. New carpet, new furniture, new everything. They even have a frig in the room now. That is great. There really isn't a bad location at the resort. Everything is very compact. The foodcourt is nice, too. You share a bus with Riverside but the stop at FQ is the first on and the first off. The theme is nice throughout the resort and the grounds lovely.

We move to the AKL because we love the animals. We sit on the balcony in the early morning and love to watch them eat and just "hang out" on the savannah. We also like the activities they have for the kids as they are nice and educational. If you take time to talk with the "guides" that are at the lookouts around the resort you can learn lots. The rooms at the AKL are slightly smaller than the other resorts, although I think they are similar in size to the WL. We really like the food court, Mara, and also enjoy Boma. Great food at both breakfast and dinner. This resort doesn't share a bus with any other resorts and the transportation has always been good for us.
If your family is a lover of animals, then the AKL is definitely for you. If this isn't a big thing than my preference would be the Yacht Club for the location on the boardwalk, in regards to a deluxe plus the pool area is very nice.

It is a tough choice but I think a lot of it comes down to what you want to do and the atmosphere that you are looking for at those resorts.

I never wanted to stay at CSR either. My DH made me try it,and it is a fantastic resort for a mod price (bargain!). I would also say AKL.

uh...Yacht Club guy...why is your name "Yacht Club" Guy if you don't like the Yacht Club...mmmk. I absolutley love the Yacht Club (my fav resort) and can't see what there isn't to like about it...

What about a MK resort-cr or wl, and then to the bw. that way you can split up your parks by convenience. Do mk and ak when you are at cr or wl. do epcot and mgm while you are at bw. do hoop de doo while you are at cr or wl. do fantasia gardens while you stay at bw. the possibilities are endless and mind numbing.

LOL! I KNEW someone would ask. See, I loved the YC when I became a member, but since then it has moved further down my list. I do not like the room decor, but don't get me wrong, it is still one of my favs. POFQ, BW, and AKL. Trust me, soooooo many people have asked it! :D Anyways, it's okay! :cheer2: It also does not fit in the budget. And so that your not confused, If we go to the BW, we will stay at a moderate.

Just keep rol'n em in! :wizard:

You don't like the room decor?! Have you recently stayed there? The room decor is awesome, blues, golds and whites. Awesome. The old room were bad, but since they refurbished them, they are wonderful! I love the comforters too!

No, Have Not Been To Disney Yet, And My Taste is not really a 'stateroom' feel. I like themeing(POFQ), Comfort (AKL) (or at least a scince of one :D ), and a new theme. We live in Canada, so we like AKL (real exotic), BWI (the Boardwalk), and POFQ (themeing is a very cool feel to us). YC has its ups-SAB, The Beach theme, The Location. But for us it seems to have a lack of somthing. I really like YC tho, and when we go I will go there on a day trip! :earboy2:

Oh WoW, I would DEFINITELY vote for the Boardwalk Inn for one of your choices. If I had to split a stay out of the choices you listed that were in the current running, I would say start out at AKL and then switch to the Boardwalk. I don't agree with the votes for CR. While I haven't stayed there personally, we have toured it and had friends staying there while we were across the lake at the Grand Floridian. Boy did they wish they could have switched with us! They thought our hotel was SO MUCH better. While I have considered staying at CR just to try out the tower view for a night or two, I would never consider it over all the other glorious deluxe resorts you could choose from. I have stayed at all almost all the deluxes now, and the Boardwalk is one of my very favorites. It has the prettiest rooms, a great location near Epcot, and the theming is truly something special. I just love it there. AKL is also to die for. The rooms aren't nearly as big as the rooms at BWI, and they aren't quite as luxurious (we've had both the standard and the deluxe rooms at AKL) but the resort itself is something no one should miss. It is incredible. The location is kind of out of the loop, but we LOVE Animal Kingdom so we like to start off our WDW visits with a few nights at AKL and take in a couple days at AK (and AKL is neat enough to plan at least one resort day to just hang around the resort and enjoy the animals and amenities) and then switch over to either an Epcot resort like the Boardwalk or a Magic Kingdom resort like the Grand Floridian. GF is my favorite MK resort, but I would highly recommend the WL as well for something less costly.

Anyway, I vote for a split stay beginning w/ AKL and then finishing over at BWI. That would be a FABULOUS combination, all things considered! :cloud9:

I didn't see this before my last post. If you had to split a stay between the Boardwalk Inn and a moderate, then I would start at the POFQ (I had a great stay there recently...lovely resort!) and then finish the stay at the Boardwalk. I wouldn't split between AKL and POFQ because you'd only have access to bus transportation your whole trip, and its really fun to experience the boats (or the monorail) for at least part of your trip. HOWEVER, AKL standard rooms are not that much more than the moderate resorts. I would still go for my first suggestion, which is to split a stay between AKL and then Boardwalk, and go for a standard room at AKL. AKL often gives upgrades from standard views to pool views, and even if you don't get an upgrade and stay in the standard view, there are still plenty of great areas to see the animals without the savannah view from your room.

BTW, I have stayed in the Yacht club, too, and it was not one of my favorites. We all like different things, thank goodness. I prefer the architecture of the high lobbies at the WL, GF, and AKL to the lower lobbies of resorts like BC and YC. While the Boardwalk doesn't have the high ceilings, the decor is so gorgeous you don't miss it as much. I like Stormalong Bay but like many of the other deluxe pool areas just as much. In fact, I often found SAB much too populated for my taste. My favorite pools are actually at GF, AKL and the Poly (except the Poly needs a hot tub!!!) Lounging in AKL's pool with flamingoes and giraffes nearby is an amazing experience!!! princess:

What about splitting your stay between BW and CR? You could rent points on the DVC board for a BWV studio Sun-Thurs. If you are in regular season, it's something like $160/night (Tax INCLUDED). If you go moderate, definitely do POFQ.
