Confused about the 2 concierge levels at Contemporary

I'm baffled. What is the difference between 12 & 14 floor concierge?? Allearsnet reports there is no longer any difference, but when I look on Disneyworld.com, it says Atrium club is limited concierge. And I can't find anything about the 14th floor.

I'm asking because I am planning a quick weekend for DH and me in November, and booked the Contemporary 14th floor with a Disney Visa rate. It still seems high; higher than the Atrium club, so I need some help figuring out what I just booked! Thanks in advance!

In terms of food offerings the Atrium Club and Tower Club are 100% the same. Besides that you get the exact same service from the Cast Members who work up there. Here are some of the differences. The lounge on the 12th floor is a lot bigger and you can look down all the way to the 4th floor, where as the lounge on the 14th floor is smaller and is more quiet because you do not look down on to the 4th floor. Besides that there are only 16 rooms on 14th floor, 5 of them are standard rooms and the rest are suites. On the 12th floor it is the standard 48 total rooms (24 on the MK side and 24 on the Bay Lake side). Finally a standard room on the 12th floor is about $60-$100 less then a standard room on the 14th floor.

Thanks for your answers. Why, do you think, are the 14th floor standards more expensive? We have a King Standard booked, it was all there was available concierge level at the Disney Visa rate. Is it because it is more private, or because it is a King room? Do you happen to know if the standard rooms face MK or Bay Lake? It says "MK or Bay Lake" so I'm guessing perhaps there are a couple on each side of standard rooms? I'm asking because I really want MK view...although I think I read somewhere you can watch the fireworks from the lounge balcony.

I see you are staying at the Polynesian in December, it is my very favorite hotel. The concierge is fantastic there. You'll love it! Of all the resorts I've stayed at, the Poly is still number one for me.

Somebody posted the 14th floor layout map and both standard king rooms faced the MK :cloud9:

Edited to add:
Here it is:

Have fun at Disney!:wizard:

My best guess why a standard room on the 14th floor is more expensive is because there are less guests up there compared to the 12th floor, so it makes things more quiet.

I am super psyched to see that map, thank you so much! It looks like we are pretty lucky to get a room there at all, especially since there are 2 king MK views! I'm more excited than before!

I stayed on the 14th floor in March, I will try and get the pictures posted on Sunday or Monday (I am going away for the weekend). When I booked they gave me a few reasons for the price difference. The rooms are slightly bigger, it is supposed to be quieter, you get a larger balcony. I have nothing to compare it to because I have never been on the atrium club floor. I am booking the atrium club floor in December. They only did a soft refurb on the 14th floor, bedding and such. As soon as I can I will get those pictures posted. Hopefully by Monday. One thing my room did not have was a daybed, which I heard are on the 12th floor. They do share the same CM's.

I would LOVE to see your pictures!

I figured the room configurations were a bit different. The king rooms have max occupancy of 2, and the queens have max of 4, while the rest of the hotel says max of 5. I don't really know what the rooms look like anyway,

I got a lightening fast response from the Itinerary planners. So far I am very impressed! I have decided not to tell my DH, and attempt to keep it a secret. Eventually I'm going to have to tell him we are going out of town:) but I hope to keep the details quiet for as long as possible, and not tell him what a cool spot we have in the hotel! He usually manages to get secrets out of me but I am going to try my hardest to not tell him.

It doesn't look like I can post pictures, there is not an attachment option for me to attach them. I don't know how many posts you need to post pictures or what you have to do to post them. Sorry, sent you a pm.

Do you have an account with Photobucket? That is where I keep my pictures that I have posted from my most recent stay at the Contemporary, because at 1st I had no idea how to post my own pictures on here.

Thanks for the helpful hint, CR Resort Fan:)
I think my kids have an account. Do you put them on there and then link them here? I really have no clue. The way I understand it is you are supposed to be able to use the attachment option, but mine is not open to me. I am not sure what I have to do, or if it requires a certain amount of posts. Thank you again CR Resort Fan, I will get my kids to load them to photobucket and see what happens. I do recall other people doing that.

Here are some links to CR 14th floor photos! They are from our balcony and such. There is a picture of the concierge floor too. The MK views are from the concierge balcony.

Thanks for posting these! I am getting very excited for my trip in 5 days !!

I haven't seen many pictures of the Bay Lake view... it looks great! We have requested MK view for the kid's sake, but I think DH and I would prefer lake view! I may be in that very same room on Saturday! :woohoo:

Thanks so much for the pictures! So exciting.

Karen, please post and let us know how it went! I got a call from Becky today in Itinerary planning...it impressed me that she picked up the phone, since we've been corresponding via email. I LOVE looking at the Castle, so this is like a dream room for me! We ate at Cali Grill in July and I spent my whole meal gazing out of the window ºoº !

It is noticeable quieter on the 14th floor because it is enclosed and you don't hear the noise from the Monorail or Chef Mickeys.

There is also some amazing artwork on display there including an original Andy Warhol. Also, from the lounge balcony you can see the park icons for all four theme parks. If you look closely, you can even see people crossing the bridge from Main St. into Liberty Square!

I'm sure you'll have a great trip! I hope that Spencer is working - his Disney knowledge is amazing!

Maybe he was on vacation or something but I did not see Spencer the whole time my family and I were at the Atrium Club. Incase you're wondering the Cast Members working on the Atrium Club and Tower Club rotate between floors, so they are not always set to be working on one specific floor.

I will absolutely post and let everyone know how everything was on the 14th floor! I'll try to include pictures also. 4 more days!:goodvibes

Actually, we were staying on the 12th floor during the Adventures on the 7 Seas Lagoon pirate event back in May. Spencer was working on the 12th floor one day and we were talking about all kinds of WDW trivia and history. He offered to take DH and I up to the 14th floor and show us around. It was amazing, especially since he was so knowledgeable and passionate about his work.

When our DD and DS joined us for the weekend, Spencer was working on the 14th floor. I asked the CM on the 12th floor if she could have him come down. He did and then gave our kids the 14th floor tour.

It's so nice to see that there are still some CM's that are so passionate about WDW!

We were on the 14th floor in June - had a 1 BR Bay View suite - actually liked our view for the most part (other than we were right above the north wing construction site) since we could go to the lounge and get the MK view. The art work is amazing - even in the suite we had some wonderful originals. Besides being quieter (when we watched the fireworks from the lounge, we were the only ones there), I also think that the 14th floor CL is a bit more flexible but I can't be sure. If you want a glass of wine or a beer, even if it wasn't "time" for it, they were happy to get it for you. Our frig was stocked with beverages too - not sure if they do that on 12.

Our suite was huge and the balcony was even larger, I think! It really was incredible. And, I loved the soft rehab and the old sinks.

We're in the same room right now! It's a beautiful view (if you don't look at the construction sight), and the service has been great so far. We arrived today and were met at our car and taken up to check in on the 14th floor. It was all very quick and smooth.

I'm going out in a few minutes to watch Illuminations from Epcot.
